Dead Hearts - Luke x Reader

Chapter 1

A/n - if you didn't know, Luke is 26 years old. You are 23 years old. You have a brother that is 27. He will be brought in the book in further in the story. More info about you will be put into the book as well. Also each chapter will have a lot of event after event. For example, Lee getting into a car crash and to the point he makes it to the drugstore would be one chapter. Anyways I hope you guys Enjoy!

Walking threw the woods with a small group of survivors, Y/n took in the environment around her. Only recently did they get out of a camp and she wasn't able to see the beauty the forest had to offer. The winds softly blew threw the air as the birds chirped every now and again. It was very peaceful to Y/n, considering everything that's happened.

They traveled quietly with evenings light, tiredly trudging on the trail. Coming across a river the group stopped.

"We should res-"

"I don't think that's a good idea Carlos," Y/n cut in. "We may have covered distance between us and Carver, but we are not save from 'lurkers' as you call them."

Carlos is a man in his early 40s with black hair. He is the doctor and the leader of the the group. He has a daughter, Sarah, who was in the group. Sarah is a 15 year old girl with black hair.

"Why should we be listening to you?" Rebecca asked, annoyance laced in her voice. "Your not the leader of this group are?"

Rebecca is a dark skinned woman in her mid 30s. Short, curly brown hair that stood up. She is currently pregnant. Her husband is Alvin. Alvin is a dark skinned man that is 43 years old. Black hair that is slowly going grey, and was more than a little round.

"I'm just trying to help," Y/n mumbled.

Rebecca only scoffed.

"Give her a break," Peter spoke in. "Were all tired and she is, as she said, trying to help by giving advice."

Peter, or Pete, is a man in his mid 50s to his late 60s. Dark hair, greying. His nephew is a boy named Nick. Nick was in his mid 20s and has black hair. His best friend was Luke. Luke was currently 26 years old with brown hair.

Y/n smiled softly towards him, which he returned. Turning back to Carlos Y/n spoke up again.

"We staying here so one of us could possibly be bit and killed, or are we going to keep moving to see if theirs a safer place?"

They took a vote on it and decided on staying, much to Y/n displeasure. Luke decided on taking first watch while everyone slept. The only thing is Y/n grew to paranoid to sleep in the open like they were. A chilly air blew past the group. Y/n shuttered slightly and huddled into a small ball.

The moon shone brightly that night, making it easier to see. The lake seemed to glow as the moon shone over it. It was not everyday you could see beauty like this..Y/n thought. She turned her gaze to Luke to see he was watching the tree line. She wouldn't say to it anyone that she fancied him. Seeing how tired he was Y/n figured she take over, seeing she was to scared too.

"Hey. Luke," Y/n whispered. "I can watch for you."

He turned to her and gave her a skeptical look.

"If a lurker was to come out of the forest, how do you plan on stopping it with your hands bind?" He asked.

It was true. After they got far enough away, they tied Y/n hands up due to them not trusting her. She understood and didn't fight them. Pete and Nick seemed to be the only one that really did trust her. Luke debated on trusting her. Back at the camp, Y/n kept somethings from them, but Pete and Nick soon understood why and never held it against her like the others.
