Chapter 24

"Holy shit," was all Javi could say.

Luke sighed and turned to Y/n and her brother to see they were calm. Adrain, however, wasn't as calm.

"Javi, even if you did get your brother free, you're not going to be able to go anywhere," Eleanor stated.

"Look at that! We should have left when we had the chance," Kate glared at Javi. "Now we're stuck here."

Y/n rolled her eyes at that. If they did, Who's to say the herd wouldn't have found them or pinned them somewhere. Sarah and Marina noticed her actions and stated at her questioningly.

I'm sorry. I should've left with you," Javi muttered.

"I think the entire world is fucked right now," replied Kate.

This only add to Y/n frustration. Not the whole world was like this. It couldn't be.

"It seems we're in danger in this place and without. I,for one, would feel a lot safer with a few more guns to protect ourselves," Tripp butted in.

"Agreed," Adrain muttered.

Elliot smirked and wrapped an arm around him.

"I have one in you need one and I guarantee it's a good hard shot," Elliot whispered in his ear.

Adrain went red and shoved him off with a blushing scowl. Mink and Pup tilted there heads in confusion while Y/n and Luke rolled there eyes at there "private" display.

Is that the smartest move to make right now?" Kate asked Tripp. "That's crazy."

"We'll need to make sure we can defend ourselves- no matter what we do okay?" Javi asked.

"Defend? That's all you're doing?" Kate asked. "I don't want to risk us losing anybody else. But you don't seem to mind that."

"They will be coming for us," Ava spoke in.

Gabe stepped in.

"I know where there's guns! My dad showed me. There's lots."

So do we, Elliot thought.

"The armory. Good idea," Ava commented. "A small group should go."

"Okay. Sounds like a plan," Javi sighed. We'll get back her as soon as we can."

"Good luck," Eleanor called.

Kate caved in and Troyes after the boys.

"Come here."

"Kate."

"Just be careful," Kate muttered hugging both boys.

It's was quiet and when they left, Trip trotted after them. Sarah pulled  Mariana aside to talk to her while Y/n turned back to the window to watching the herd.

"You okay sis?"

Y/n turned to her brother and shook her head. Luke's face fell into concern.

"Y/n?"

"Nothing. I'll be fine," Y/n smiled.

Elliot dropped it and took Adrain to get what supplies they had in their rooms. Pup and Mink followed. Luke and Y/n noticed Mink was a little more sluggish.

"So Y/n, what's going on?" Luke asked.

Y/n sighed and shook her head.

"Just thinking of the things I could've prevented. Nick...Jane...," Y/n trailed off.

Luke took hold of Y/n's shoulders.

"Hey, it wasn't your fault. Nick wasn't fast enough and....and I should have been there for Jane and I wasn't. It ain't your fault," Luke muttered. "Okay?"
