- as of this chapter, im going to continue writing in lowercase bc my keyboard has been set that way forever and it's been really bugging me lately to where i'm hesitant to write chapters because i'm too lazy to capitalize. lol. i hope you guys are cool with this. and also, this will be the last chapter title i capitalize. i just didn't want to confuse you guys and have you think it's an a/n.

"rise and fucking shine!" halsey smiled brightly and turned on my lights.
"mmmm," i groaned.
"come on. gotta get you ready," she said, yanking my covers off.

i sighed and got up. my cast was always heavier in the morning, but i'd been getting used to it, lately. halsey moved me to the white vanity in the corner of the room, near the window.

she combed out the tangles in my short hair before doing anything else. then she began to lightly curl as much as she could with a straightener.

"ow!" i exclaimed in pain, as she burned my ear.
"sorry, love. beauty is pain."

it was too early for me to argue with hals. so i just didn't.

"can i talk to you about something, will?"
"of course."
"h-how do you address a girl about liking her?" she was very hesitant in the words she spoke.
"um. well. i thought you liked boys...?"
"i do! but...sometimes i look at girls like i look at boys. kinda like...nevermind."

it was clear that she was hinting at being bisexual. which was totally fine with me. personally, i don't care. i always went with the flow. i just have always been fond of people who are nice and treat me nice.

"kinda like who?" i asked.

she stayed silent as she began to hairspray my hair. i wanted to help my friend. and it was clear she was ready to talk about her feelings but she was scared.

"i will never judge you based on sexuality. you know that. you can trust me with anything. that being said, is there...someone who catches your eye?"

she sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. before speaking, she clipped the front of my hair back so she could started with my makeup. ugh.

"yeah, there is. i-i just don't know if i can say it out loud..."
"i won't pressure you but i just want to help. i can --"
"its melanie."
"MELANIE?!"
"SHHHHH."
"...melanie?" i whispered.

she face-palmed herself and nodded, "its stupid! i know! but i-i don't know. UGHHHHH."

we had a conversation about it. halsey admitted that her and melanie had been friends since about age 11 and she'd had feelings for her ever since they met. but as far as halsey knew, melanie was straight. she also didn't really date, it was always school, school, school.

"all done," she said, putting lipstick on my lips.
"thanks. and i'm here for you. don't forget that."

she nodded and headed off to get my clothes.

"here," she gave me a cream colored blouse. it had thin straps on the shoulder and ruffle like sleeve on each of the upper arm. it was only one layer. the satin made it look very expensive. she, then, handed me a black pencil skirt (here we go again). to compliment this, she gave me a black flat. yeah, not flats. flat. wearing one shoe was so bothersome.

i changed without speaking in fear of coming off rude. it was still too early to be nice.

after changing, hals had a giant smile on her face.

"what now?" i yawned.
"your crutches are ugly so i bought stickers."
"stickers?"
"stickers."

i let her have her way with my boring, silver crutches. pretty soon, there were glitter flowers and butterflies everywhere.

"okay, done. now, one more surprise," she said, fixing my hair a bit.
"do i actually want to know this time?" i sighed, falling back onto the bed.

it was silent for about 10 seconds before halsey told me to sit up. as i did, groaning, she held out a rose gold necklace. it was was a small chain with an actual small rose.

"OH. MY. GOD."

she laughed at my reaction, putting it on me.

"this is so beautiful. you didn't have to do this."
"this was the necklace i wore in my first beauty pageant. please don't ask. but the other great thing about this is that there's 2 more just like it."
"um..."
"a silver and gold one. to go with mine and melanie's."

i hugged halsey. it had been so long since i could call someone a friend. but i was so glad that i had someone now. more than two someone's. i had a whole bunch of friends now!

except two of them might hate me now...

that made my face drop slightly. luckily, we were still embracing and hals didn't see my expression drop.

"thank you so much."
"it's not problem," hals said, fiddling with her blonde wig, "now, i've got to go. the way's should be here in about 15-20 minutes and i don't think they'd be happy having an unexpected guest. goodluck, will."

i waved her off as she exited the room. at this point, i was consumed by boredom so i decided to call my mom.

"hey, mom."
"hi, kid. what's up?"
"i'm just about to meet mikey & gerard's parents."
"that sounds fun. rich people are always fun."
"exactly. anyway, how's birdie?"
she sighed, "okay, i guess. she's still on the fence but i think she'll be fine."
"that's good. i miss you, mom."
"i miss you too. when i come back, you should invite your friends over. i think it's about time i meet them."
"all of them?"
"um, of course. OH SHIT. i have to go. i'll text you as soon as i can. i love you."
"love you --" there was a dial tone "too..."

i sighed and tried my best to beat my score on ms. pac-man. A GAME THAT COST 3.99! just as i was on my last strip of dots, my door opened with a "hey."

"nooooooooo!" i groaned.

just then, i turned to see gerard. he was dressed nicely as well. a white button up with a simple black tie and slacks with dress shoes. i didn't think gerard was comfortable in any shoes except converse or vans.

"oh, uh. sorry. i was playing ms. pac-man and i lost. again. i'm rambling now. sorry. what's up?" i asked, grabbing my crutches.
"my parents are down the road and want to take you to breakfast with us. mom's having a party tonight and would like to get to know you first, i guess. i came to help you downstairs," he said, holding out his hand to me.

"i can handle it myself. its really no big deal."
"i'm not mad at you."
"what?"
"i can tell you've been distant and hesitant. i'm sorry i kinda snapped on you. i was just frustrated. not at you, at myself."
"it's okay."
"come on," he said, taking my arm.

we walked down the stairs together. holding arms, lady and gentleman like. mikey came down the stairs as well, dressed to perfection. as i was about greet him and let go of gerard, the front door burst open.

"hello!" a woman with a gray pantsuit, greeted to no one in particular.
"hi, mother," gerard and mikey said in unison.

a man with glasses stood behind her, carrying bags. mrs. way kissed gerard and mikey on their foreheads and stopped at me.

"hello, mrs. way, its a pleasure to meet you," i said, shakily.
"hello! and you must be the famous, willow!"
"yes, i'm --"
"gerard's girlfriend!"
"huh?"

i noticed my arm was still linked with gerard's. mikey, gee's, and my face dropped at the same time.

i let go of gerard, "oh no no no. there must be some misunderstand --"
"it's okay, dear. we can get to know each other at breakfast. we're going to this fantastic place..." she trailed off, heading upstairs to her own room.

"hello," mr. way nodded and followed behind.

mikey, gerard, and i all looked at one another.

"what the fuck just happened?!" i whisper yelled.
"we have no clue!" they retorted back in the same volume.
"look, we'll explain to her at breakfast. in the mean time, just stay quiet and polite," mikey said.

i nodded.

i'm screwed.
