Not all boys are a waste of time

A/N- So if you guys watched the 1st movie then you would recognize the part when Mal says to Evie that boyfriends are a waste of time. This one shot reflects back to it and how Mal's point of view changes about it.

The window was open and the curtains fluttered from the light breeze coming from outside.

Mal's eyes fluttered open slowly as she felt the soft breeze against her skin. The first thing she heard was a bunch of boys cheering outside the dorms.

Yawning, she got out of bed and headed to the the window to see what the noise was all about. There she saw one of her best friends doing some kind of happy dance on the Tourney field. Mal guessed that Jay won and was now dancing with joy. If someone told Mal in the Isle that Jay would love playing a team sport, she would've just laughed and told them off.

Then there was Carlos. Mal was proud that he had finally mustered up the courage to ask the girl he likes to the Cotillion and became more than friends at the end. There he was with one arm around the Jane while the other one was around his precious dog Dude. Mal was happy that Carlos finally found happiness after the treatment he had back in the Isle.

A familiar laughter made her lost her train of thoughts. Her eyes were drawn to a certain king like a moth to a flame. His hair was a little messed up and his cheeks were a little flushed from the morning breeze. Laughing while playing tourney with the guys. Shirtless. Sure Mal saw him shirtless before, on their first date to the enchanted lake. But she never really paid attention to him after all her plan was to use him for the wand but it backfired a bit. Mal never noticed how muscular Ben really was.

It was nice to see Ben just playing around and being carefree. A nice break from being a king to just being a teenage boy. Mal smiled at sight of him when his whole face lit up when he scored the winning shot.

"Like what you see M?"

Mal turned around to see her best friend standing behind her with a smirk across her face with a hand on her hip.

"Don't know what your talking about E." Mal replied while a blush formed on her face. Who knew that the daughter of Maleficent, would be blushing over a shirtless teenage boy.

"Oh I think I do. I see that you're checking a certain king out."

"Maybe I am, Maybe I'm not" Mal said with a wicked smile walking past her friend to change. Evie stood there shock that her best friend just admitted to checking out a boy.

Mal came out of the bathroom after changing out of her sleepwear. Her style changed a bit, she wasn't completely dressed like she was in the Isle. But she wasn't dressed like the other princesses in school. It was like a mixed of both worlds.

"Hey M, wanna help me get ready for my date with Doug?"

"I would love to, but I'm gonna go meet Ben outside."

"What happened to boyfriends being a waste of time?" Referring to when they first got to Auradon. The smirk was still on Evie's face.

"Well not all of them are a complete waste of time" Mal said with a small smile on her face. "See you late E."

Evie waved at her with a smile. Glad that her best friend has finally found someone she's happy with.

Mal headed straight to the Tourney Fields. She leaned against the bleachers while she watched her boyfriend tackle one of the guys. After one game, Ben jogged over to where Mal is. He was still catching his breath, with his hair disheveled, cheeks flushed and sweaty body. But to Mal he never looked more breathtaking.

"Hey Mal, Are you just gonna stand there and drool over me or are you gonna just gonna say hi?" Mal looked up to his face. His hand was over her head against the fence of the bleachers . While his usual sweet smile was replaced with a mischievous smirk. Seems like Ben was rubbing off from her.

"Good morning to you too" she said with a laugh hoping to hide the blush that was threatening to form on her face. She stared at his eyes before grabbing his shoulders and pressed her mouth on his.

They continued for what felt like eternity, until they heard a whistle in the background and a few "ooohh's".

"Are you two lovebirds gonna keep kissing or are you actually gonna play Ben?"

They both pulled back to look at Jay and a few of their teammates smirking at the couple. Mal motioned with her head to go play with the other boys, but not before giving him a small peck first.

Ben smiled at her before running back to his friends.

"I guess some boys aren't a waste of time huh?"

Mal jumped at the sudden hand on her shoulder before turning around to see Evie smiling at her.

She smiled back and rested her head against her best friend's shoulder before cheering on for her boyfriends winning shot.

"Well one of them is worth my time."
