Chapter 6

The morning was a cool one, chilly, the clouds emptied themselves in every way possible. The kids had left for school, Susan the office and Nathan warmed his home office with reading. When he heard a voice, "start praying now."
He tried to resist but the push became harder. So he rose up to start praying but he didn't know what to pray for, so he began to pray in other tongues. As he prayed, the HOLY GHOST took over and before Nathan knew it, he had prayed three hours straight. Which is no surprise seeing that HE took over.
    After he was through praying , he decided to make a quick stop at the hospital before going for office hours at the Academy.

     Each time Nathan asked Jamie about her family, she refused to say a thing. She only ever mentioned that she had a mother who was loving. When he tried to inform her about Jamie, Jamie always found a way to stop him. But I don't think she would be able to do that much longer. It's been two days since Jamie was admitted into the hospital but there has been no sign of a mother or a guardian. Nathan was getting worried and more concerned.  He never had problems settling the bills but where is her family?
       Nathan took upon himself not to listen to Jamie's lies and find out what was really going on. As usual, Jamie tried talking him out but there was no going back.

     When Jamie was discharged, Nathan followed her to her house. Once more  he helped the ten year old up the stairs. He pushed the door open while Jamie stood by him crossing her fingers. She couldn't tell if she was happy help might have come or she should pity herself for having the worst family ever.
      
          "Is any body home?" He searched for the lights and turned them on. The house was a huge mess. Nothing was in  order. Right in front of him was a bowl that was filled with urine.
Jamie was so embarrassed  that she buried her face in her palms.
     Nathan walked to wards the living, only to hear a groaning voice on the floor.
     "Bravo the brat is back. You  want some more?"
Jamie clinked to Nathan with out thought of  letting go.
Celeste slowly lifted up her head and she caught the gaze of Nathan. They were both taken aback. Nathan was filled with surprise. Celeste stood there as tears ran down her eyes she recognized him.

     " Cely? "
"Nat" surprise was a clear emotion at the moment. But Jamie was even more confused than surprised. Celeste walked up to Nathan, gave him a slap.
" Nat is it really you"
" you are alive and not dead ?"
Nathan asked even more confused than surprised.
"What do you mean Alive not dead"
    " your mother told us you  committed suicide after your dad passed away."
" wait, hold on I'm confused. Were is Phil,"
   "Around he is around. And is this his daughter?"
" yeah but.....I don't know what to say Nat."

     The room was filled with every emotion possible. Anger,hate,confusion, surprise, love, every thing seemed to have turned upside down for Jamie.
In every discussion she was dumbfounded. Not knowing if she should be happy or angry or tired.

Nathan organised a catch up meeting between Celeste, Phillip, and him self. While Jamie spent time at the Tambi's .

      Phillip was last to arrive. He didn't actually know why  Nathan had asked him to come to his office. When he entered the office, there was evident astonishment on his face
" Cely " Phillip mumbled but he could be heard. He motioned  to a seat close by other wise he could fall down with shock.
" your alive and kicking? "
Celeste was speechless she needed to under stand why Phillip will run away living her with child.

         Truth be told, Phillip didn't run away. At the time he wasn't a Christian anyways. He had gotten into a relationship with Celeste about ten years back. He was  so deep in love that he had slept with Celeste just a day before his flight to London to further his law studies. Apparently, Celeste was pregnant with out his knowledge. Nathan who was still on ground as Phillip's cousin had told him about it. Phillip was willing to take responsibility.
But parents of Phillip were not ready to have a harlot as a daughter in-law. So they faked a note saying it was a letter from Phillip. Celeste had no one to run to. Nathan equally left few weeks later for motor engineering.
   Parents of Celeste who thought so highly of their daughter, were shocked to hear that their daughter who had a standing career in music had been impregnated by a boy with no future. Unfortunately for Celeste, her father had a stroke and died. Her mother became bitter and disowned her  kicked her out of the house. She struggled for months and then years finally she gave up to drugs and more harlotry .
The letter read:

     "  Dear Celeste.

I am deeply sorry if I cause you to believe that I actuality loved you. I just needed someone to satisfy me that night. I am not ready to throw my life away because of you.

    I don't have much to tell you. You should move on with life forget about me. And am sure you will fine a man that will love you with the child I greatly doubt is mine.

       I found out you had other boyfriends apart from me. And besides I won't be coming back.
Stay well.

      Sincerely Phillip."

Phillip came back five years later to take responsibility from his parents who pretended to take care of Celeste and to understand. Phillip tried to fine out what happened but Celeste's mother told him she committed suicide after the death of her father.
        Pain had been the talk of the day for the two finally things were sorted out between the two.
     
      Its a wonder how God always has a way of putting lives together. What can I say, He is the potter after all.
