"i've never felt so embarrassed." i sighed as i tossed all the used tissues into my trash can. "justin must think i'm crazy now."

it's been a few hours since jackson yelled and humiliated me in front of justin, the sun already set.

"no he doesn't ken, he feels bad." emma mumbled as she got up from the chair. "i have an idea that'll make you feel better."

i looked up from my phone and raised an eyebrow.

"ice cream." she whispered as she got up and grabbed my hand and pulled me up and out the room.

once she dragged me all the way down to the kitchen, i came face to face with jackson, noticing that justin was no longer with him.

i refused to make eye contact with him, so in response he walked out of the kitchen, shoving me slightly with his shoulder. asshole.

"what a prick." emma mumbled as she opened the freezer and pulled out the mint chocolate chip ice cream along with the vanilla.

before i could grab a bowl, the doorbell rang causing me to groan.

"go get it, i'll make yours." emma smiled at me as she struggled to scoop out the frozen ice cream.

i headed over towards the front door and opened it slowly, my eyes widening immediately.

"hey." justin leaned against the side of the door.

i quickly wiped my wet eyes, knowing there was mascara all over my face.

"uh jackson's in his room i think—"

"that's not why i'm here." he stood up straight and took a deep breath. "i'm so sorry about earlier—"

"justin don't apologize, it's not your fault." i sighed as i kept my eyes on his watch.

"i should've said something—i should've stood up for you. jackson's a jerk and shouldn't be treating anyone like that." justin sighed as he ran his hand through his hair. "i felt so bad for you, and i was just so—so angry at jackson that i just stormed out. i couldn't believe it."

i bit my lip and looked up at him and our eyes instantly met. he gave me a small sympathetic smile and pulled out his other hand from behind his back.

"i got you these." he chuckled as he held out a box of chocolate. "i don't really know why but, i hope you enjoy it and feel better."

i gave in and smiled a little, causing him to smile even bigger.

"there's that smile." he licked his lips as he handed me the chocolate.

"thanks—" i giggled quietly, feeling my cheeks rise by the second.

i felt his arms wrap around me as he pulled me into a hug, my heart practically leaping in my chest. why was he being so sweet, my god i couldn't handle it. we've hardly even talked and he's so caring for me...

i snuggled into his chest, his cologne making me fall for him even more.

"what the fuck is this?" jackson growled from behind us.

i groaned and let go of justin as i turned to face him.

i felt justin's body tense up as he grabbed my hand.

"im trying to help out your sister." justin snapped. "you're a fucking dick to her and she doesn't deserve all this bullshit from you."

"god." jackson muttered. "stay out of this bieber, not everything is about you."

i watched justin as his fists balled up, and i quickly placed my hand on his chest to hold him back.

"hey hey." i whispered as he glanced down at me, his eyes immediately softening. "it's okay."

his jaw clenched as he looked back up at jackson, his mouth twisting with anger.

as he let go of me he pointed his finger towards jackson.

"if you ever treat another girl like that again? consider us done." he growled as he turned around and walked out, slamming the front shut.

i bit my lip and looked down at the chocolate box, smiling to myself lowly. wow, he does care.

my happiness was interrupted when jackson began cursing under his breath.

"look what you did." jackson scoffed. "you're doing this all for attention."

i looked up and furrowed my eyebrows as i shook my head slightly.

"don't talk to me." i hissed as i walked past him, back into the kitchen.

standing there was emma, with her eyes wide as she was eating her ice cream.

"damn, that was intense from over here." emma bit into the oreo in her ice cream.

i shrugged and put the box of chocolates down.

emma quickly put her bowl down and put her hand over her mouth.

"did he give that to you?" emma gasped as she looked down at it.

i nodded slowly and smiled a bit.

"yeah, he felt really bad—"

"wow, he's such a sweet guy." emma nodded. "that's hard to find."

i laughed at her remark because it was quite relatable.

"yeah, he really does care about you. wow kelsey, i think there might be a chance."

i grabbed my bowl and ate my ice cream happily.

"i know." i squeaked with excitement.
