"come on kels it's summer." emma shrugged. "just give it a shot."
"and completely humiliate myself so he never talks to me again? yeah no i'll pass." i flipped my hair as i walked towards my bean bag chair.
"you know you wanna try." emma wiggled her eyebrows.
"whatever." i yanked out my phone and stalked his instagram. god even his feed is goals, could he get even more perfect?
i sighed and batted my eyelashes as i scrolled through his instagram, admiring every selfie and picture of him.
"is he still here?" emma opened the door to see if there was any noise.
shortly after we heard some laughs causing my heart to pound faster.
"geez it's like this kid lives here." emma chuckled.
"yeah he's stayed here for a few nights before." i licked my lips. "once in 8th grade he slept over here for a week."
"and your parents don't mind?" emma dropped her jaw.
"well first off our families are pretty tight...but not not really. my mom is pretty chill and my dad's always traveling for work, as of right now."
"damn. you must be in so much pain, seeing that face every day."
i sighed and stood up from the bed.
"you have no idea—"
after the sun practically set, emma ran to the restroom while i stood in the kitchen pouring some snacks for us. of course we were having another grey's anatomy marathon like always.
after i poured out the entire bag of pretzels, i opened the fridge and took out some root beers.
once i closed the fridge i heard footsteps approach.
i looked over and felt my entire body freeze once i saw justin walking towards me.
i walked over to the bowls of food and swallowed hard, praying i don't make a fool out of myself.
he began to whistle as he opened the fridge and yanked out a coke.
"hey." i heard him rasp as he took a sip of his coke, the bubbles sizzling from the can.
"hi." i turned around slowly so i wouldn't panic of any kind.
he glanced behind me and raised his eyebrows.
"movie night?" he pointed to the bowls.
i licked my lips and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
"uh—yeah kinda." i mumbled, trying as hard as i could to keep my cheeks from reddening.
"cool." he took another sip from his soda, while my eyes traveled up his biceps. damn, those tattoos though.
justin finally placed his coke on the counter and crossed his arms as he stared into my eyes.
"so—"
before he could continue, the floor beneath me began to vibrate. not even vibrate...more like shake, pretty hard.
the bowl behind me skid to the left and crashed all over the ground, causing a huge mess...along with the other food.
i heard glass shatter behind me causing me to flinch. earthquakes always scared the shit out of me...ever since i was a kid.
justin held onto the counter and so did i, as we held on for dear life.
i watched justin's eyes travel above my head, and before i knew it he had pushed me onto the floor, a glass cup shattering in my place. he saved me.
once the shaking had slowed down, all i could hear was our fast breathing...while our faces were several inches apart.
"are you alright?" justin breathed as he laid on top of me, my wrist aching in pain.
"y—yeah." i finally whispered. "holy shit."
"yeah that was pretty intense." he still had his arm behind my back.
i nodded my head slowly as i kept my eyes on his face, realizing that he was lying on top of me...the butterflies in my stomach going crazy.
he bit his lip and stood up quickly, and grabbed my hand to help me up as well.
"t—thank you for saving me—"
"yeah no problem." he scratched his head. "are you sure you're okay?" he glanced down at my hand that was holding my other hand's wrist.
i glanced down as he held my wrist, as i hissed in pain.
"owowowow fuck." i cursed under my breath.
"shit sorry." he quickly let go and made his way to the freezer. once he pulled out an ice pack he motioned me to sit down so i quickly sat down on the stool.
he stood in front of me and held my wrist carefully as he placed the ice pack on gently.
i hissed at how cold it was, my wrist still in tons of pain.
"sorry i think my fat ass leg kinda smashed your wrist." justin chuckled lowly.
i giggled and looked up at him.
"well it's better than dying." i shrugged causing him to smile even bigger.
i heard multiple footsteps coming running into the kitchen, jackson and emma following behind.
"hey are you guys okay?" emma breathed, her face instantly turning into a smirk once she laid her eyes on us.
"yeah we're fine, she kinda hurt her wrist—"
"are you icing her wrist for her?" jackson furrowed his eyebrows. "she's not a fucking baby she can do it herself."
"jackson stop—"
"don't fucking talk to me." jackson growled at me. "you're just trying to get closer to my best friend so you can fuck him, you're really not that sneaky you fucking slut."
i felt my vision go blurry while the back of my eyes pinched. a single tear rolled down my cheek in shock.
"h—how could you say that?" my voice cracked as i quickly ran out of the kitchen upstairs towards my room.
"how could you fucking say that dude? she's your sister! i was just helping her out okay? damn!" i heard justin bark at him as i plopped on my bed and cried to myself quietly.
i heard running footsteps come up the stairs and into my room came emma.
"don't listen to him. he's a fucking jerk!" emma shook her head in disbelief as she sat down next to my legs and rubbed my back.
