The Lucky One

Chapter Three

-Taylor-

The flight to LA took forever since we were all in anticipation to see Gigi. The night I called her to see what was going on. Cody and her weren't doing so well and she really needed some company. I agreed to go visit her until my next tour date, along with Ed and Ali. Ali was pretty excited to go to LA since she's never been there before. I'm sure Gigi and her will get along quite nice. We grab our luggage and a driver meets us, along with security guards, to take us to Gigi's house.

Gigi has never sounded so upset and out of it. I feel like usually she can figure things about by herself and I can tell she really needs me. Even though it's been about a week since we last talked, doesn't mean we aren't friends anymore. It means we're both super busy living our own lives. The drive to her house is only about ten minutes but it feels like hours. Ed can tell that I'm tense and tries to comfort me but it doesn't work.

I just want to be there for Gigi.

The car stops and I rush to get out, forgetting the paparazzi surrounding me. I don't know how they knew where I would be but they do. Or that I would even be in LA when I was supposed to be in Japan still. I knock on the door and it opens slightly for me to get in. She probably doesn't want the paparazzi to see her.

Ed, Ali, and I walk into her house and she's behind the door, quickly closing it. Gigi's in sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt. There's a messy bun on top of her head and she looks like she hasn't stopped crying.

Poor Gigi.

"Hey," she says in a soft- spoken voice. It's so crazy it could be mistaken for a whisper instead. I give her a huge hug and let her cry on my shoulder. We stayed like that for a few minutes but I could tell it was getting awkward for Ed and Ali.

"How are you doing?" I ask. Someone knocks on the door. Ed checks and sees that it's just my driver to give us our luggage. Ed and Ali take care of the luggage while I stand there with Gigi.

"I might be okay but I'm not fine at all," she says with a small smile. I laugh a little and give her another hug. "I'll show you were you guys can stay."

The house is really nice but it makes me super confused. She lives in New York but she has a house in LA now? I don't know when that happened. "When did you get this house?" I ask as we walk through it.

"About a month ago," she says. "I knew I would need a place to escape to at some point and this is it. Only you know, though."

"It's really nice," I say, trying to fill the air with positivety. It's not quite working, however. There's still a sullen mood on everything. Even the decor in the house is super dark and just not something that Gigi would typically have. I already have a list of things to do to lift her mood.

Or at least try to lift her mood.

"Thanks," she says quietly and shows us Ali's room, Ed's room, and my room. We put our luggage in our rooms and I have Ed and Ali hang out while I talk to Gigi. She needs some one on one time. I find her in the kitchen washing dishes.

"Hey," I say and sit down at the small kitchen table. She turns around and gives me a small smile. "How about we bake cookies tonight?"

Gigi says softly, "Sure."

"What happened?" I ask. She shuts the water off, turns around, and closes her eyes. Then, she explains how the two of them got in a huge fight and she doesn't know if they'll be okay after this. "He'll come back. And, if he doesn't, he's definetely missing out," I say and she gives a genuine smile.

"Wanna start the cookies?" she asks, clearly feeling better. Her face has some more life to it. Sometimes, just talking about what happened, can make you feel a little bit better. I can tell that's what happened with her. We find the ingredients we need to make chocolate chip cookies and, thankfully, she has everything we need.

Knowing me, she probably got the stuff before I came since all I ever want to do is bake cookies. Or do something involving music. "Ali!" I yell since she's upstairs.

I'm hoping she'll help us bake cookies and get to know Gigi better. Ed and her come down the stairs eyeing the ingredients. "Help Gigi and I make cookies," I say and her face lights up with excitement.

Ed looks equally excited as he knows he gets to eat the cookies once they're done. Gigi helps him with the TV so he can watch in the living room while we cook. "Sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier," Gigi starts to say. "I'm Gigi."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Ali," Ali says while she washes her hands at the sink. I smile slightly and get to work. We make an assemly line, almost, with each person having a different task. Next thing we know, there's two sheets in the oven and three to go in. "Maybe we should slow down," Ali says with a laugh.

As predicted, Gigi and Ali got along right away. Gigi seemed like herself again and was laughing so much. "Nah, the more cookies the better," Gigi says and makes another set of the batter.

"Are the cookies done yet," Ed yells from the living room causing the three of us to laugh. He can be exactly like a kid sometimes. Everyone was feeling happy and it was all normal. My phone dings and I wipe my hands to see who texted me.

My jaw drops and I drop my phone.

What does he want?
