The Lucky One

Chapter Fifteen

-Taylor-

"Taylor, it's me." the voice says and I gasp. How the heck did Adam get my number again? I changed my number again and made sure to block him just in case he get my new one again. But, he must've known I would do that and got a new number as well just so he can try and contact me, again.

"Adam, why can't you just leave me alone?!" I practically yell into the phone and hope no one outside (including my bodyguards) can hear me. "Why are you such a creep? Like, haven't you caused enough problems already?"

"Taylor, you know I still love you."

I almost threw my stupid phone across the wall but I didn't want Ed to know Adam called again and he'd probably assume that's why I did it. "You still love me?" I say into the phone, trying not to yell again. "Adam, you never loved me and, quite frankly, I don't think I ever loved you either."

Silence came from the other end of the phone. I almost regret saying those words as they were pretty harsh. I mean, admitting you didn't love them? Sounds pretty bad to me but, I realize that he almost killed my sister so I felt no empathy towards him. "I did, actually," Adam says awkwardly.

"Oh yeah, that must explain why you tried to kill my sister," I say with a snort. "It was all out of love, wasn't it Adam?"

"Taylor, I thought we were past that," he says and my jaw drops. Yes, I'm totally over him trying to kill my sister. Like, is he seriously out of his mind? "I loved you and I made some bad choices. Don't you believe in second chances?" he asks.

"Look, Adam," I say into the phone. "I'm happy right now with Ed and Ali and I don't want you, or anyone, to ruined that."

"I won't."

"Okay?" I say into the phone, confused. I mean, what are you supposed to say after that? There's an awkward silence and I feel my phone buzz. It's probably a text from Ed saying that they're done with lunch. I put Adam on speaker and start to finish getting ready.

"So, can we do a song together?" Adam asks.

"Oh my god, Adam, are you serious?" I groan and roll my eyes. "I don't want to do a stupid song with you."

"You can write it and do backup vocals but stay anonymous," Adam says quickly. Why would they do him any good? What's the catch that I'm missing? Oh, probably that no one wants to work with him after what he did and he needs a songwriter to write a song for him. Yeah, that's sounds about right.

"No."

Adam laughs, "Taylor, you've seen how much power I have with the media. I can say anything about you and they would believe it just like the whole wedding thing. Do the song and I'll stop telling the media more rumors about you and not ruin your reputation even more."

I stop putting lipstick on and think about it. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to just write a stupid song with him I guess. If it will stop him from telling the media more fake rumors about me, I don't see the problem. And, no one but him will even really know I did it. "Promise?" I ask and hold my breath.

"I promise, my love."

I see Ed trying to call through. "Okay, fine, I'll do it."

"Great, talk to you soon," Adam says and I can hear him smiling through the phone. I say goodbye and hang up the phone. I finish getting ready and hear someone coming in. Great, I missed getting coffee with Ed and Ali. Speaking of Ed, what am I going to tell him? Ah, I'll just say it was my record label. He'll understand. Even though I feel bad lying to him but he'll get angry that I agreed to work with Calvin on a song.

I greet them at the door and apologize for missing it. Ed understands, just as I thought. I give him a kiss and Ali suggests we go miniature golfing today which sounds like a great idea to get my mind off things for a bit.

I call my driver to come pick us up at the back of the hotel and tell him to drive us to miniture golf. The place we end up going to also has pizza so I can tell Ed is excited about that. In the car which finish our coffees and just chat about whatever. It honestly really does help to take my mind off what happened with Adam.

But, I'm still freaking out about what song we're going to write and what will happen if Ed or Ali finds out. Ed will be angry with me and Ali will be furious. I feel bad but, what else can I do? Is my reputation more important then my family? The answer is no, it's not, but I'm sure they would understand. Ed would eventually but Ali doesn't really know what it's like to have everyone know who you are and make fake rumors about you. All. The. Time.

"Taylor?" Ed asks. I look at him in confusion and realize we're at the place already. I must've zoned out and got lost in my thoughts. "We're here."

"Oh, sorry," I say flustered. We get out of the car and have a great time, as I thought we would. I always have the best time with Ali and Ed. They're just really fun people, I guess. It makes me totally forget about the media, Adam, and the song we're writing even if it was just for a few hours. It for sure helped.

I'm so lucky to have these two by my side.

I can't believe I have school tomorrow.  Those two weeks of spring break FLEW by but at least now I'm just one step closer to summer!  I wrote a bunch of chapters so hopefully I can continue doing the weekly updates like I have been while on break.
