The Lucky One

Chapter Sixteen

-Taylor-

Adam and I sceduled to meet at his studio to start writing the song. He said he found someone that would sing it for us too but, as usually, wouldn't tell me who that person was. How can he just pick someone to sing when no one even knows what the song is or what it's about? I told Ed and Ali that I'm heading to the studio so, technically, I'm not lying to them by saying that. I'm just not telling them why I'm really going, that's all.

I grab my purse and leave the hotel room after giving Ed a kiss goodbye. It's been a month since that phone call but it's still made me parinoid. Would Adam even have the decency to stop the media? And did he actaully still love me?

No, Taylor, he never loved you.

The thought brings a sharp pain in my chest because for awhile, I did love him and he left he absolutely heartbroken. Thankfully, Ed was there to put the pieces back together. And now, here I am, writing a song with the dude that tried to kill my sister. And he has the nerve to say that we're past that?

My reputation isn't worth of this, so why am I doing it?

I walk inside the studio and Adam is standing there to greet me. "Can we not have anyone see us doing this?" I say in a hushed whispered.

We were inside but I still didn't want anyone to see the two of us together. They would bring the "stopping the wedding" rumors back and people would actually believe them this time if they didn't already. I definetly did not want anyone thinking that. We go to the room and I see Rihanna standing there. "Rihanna? You're working with Adam?" I say with a gasp.

"I'm wondering the same about you," she says with a laugh making me laugh a little. Adam smiles as I laugh so I immedietly stop. "So, what song am I singing?"

"We don't know yet," Adam says and takes a seat on the couch where Rihanna also sat down. He motions for me to sit next to him but I sit in one of the chairs in the room, instead. Rihanna smiles when I do this and I hold back a smile, as well. "Do you have anything Taylor?"

"Actually, yeah, I wrote this song but I don't know if it's good," I say, slightly embarrased. I pull on my notebook and show them the song.

"I like it," Rihanna says with a smile, thankful she's not singing a song of Adam's. No offense or anything but, he isn't the best songwriter. I mean, I don't think I am either but...

Ugh, you get my point.

"Let's do it," Adam says and we get right to work. I want to much sure everything is done today so I don't have to come back and see Adam again. We work on the song for two hours when we decide to have a break. "So, what's your name going to be?"

"Nil Sjöberg."

"Um, okay?" Calvin says slowly but I don't explain further. By the end of the session, we have finished the entire song, which I'm very thankful for because I did not want to have to see him again, as I said before. I'm even in the song too but it's so small that no one would even be able to recognize that I'm in it, even if I told them (which I don't plan on ever doing).

"Okay, I better go now," I say after Rihanna left the room to go home. He says goodbye and leans in, as if I was going to kiss him. "Um, what are you doing?"

"I know you were lying when you said you never loved me," he says softly.

"I wasn't lying." I say coldly and grab my purse and my phone. I make sure I have all of my stuff and then leave the room. "Rihanna? You're still here?"

"Of course, I don't trust Adam enough to leave you totally alone with him," she says with a smile. "So, why did you agree to do this with him if you don't even want people to know you helped with it?"

"Because he said he would make up more rumors about me to the media and I'm just sick of all that nonsense. I just want him to leave me alone about the stupid song, ya know?" I say with a sigh. Rihanna pats my shoulder as we exit the building. "Why did you agree to sing the song?"

"Honestly, I don't know," she says with a shrug. "Does your family know you did this? Like your sister?"

"No," I admit and her eye widen. "That's why I really want it to be a secret too. They would never let me do it. I've been thinking if my reputation is worth lying to them. But then why would I do it?"

"I have an idea," Rihanna snorts and I look at her, not really knowing what to say. "But you have to figure that one on your own, sweetie. I gotta go, you have my number so give me a call whenever."

"Bye," I say softly.

I watch her leave, drowned in thoughts on what she could have possibly meant. How could she know my motives when I don't even them? How am I supposed to figure this all out on my own if she thinks she knows?

My driver pulls up and drives me back to my hotel room. I go inside and give Ed a kiss on the cheek. "How did it go?" he asks.

"No good, I don't think," I say just so he doesn't ask to hear the song I "recorded." The song actually is really good that we recorded today so it's a shame I didn't keep it for myself or that no one would no I worked on it with them.

For the rest of the night we all watch a movie on Netflix while I'm buried in my own thoughts.
