(The above is Sirius.)
Parker sat in silence for what felt like an eternity. In reality, it was only twenty-ish minutes, but Parker was never really good at time estimation, and no watch sat on her wrist. Parker was probably one of the most impatient people in all of New York, and thus she lay face down on the tile floor, Sirius laying right next to her. Boredom was driving Parker insane. The containment cell muted her abilities, so she couldn't do anything with them. Parker sat up suddenly, coming up with a way to pass her time. Sirius looked at her, startled by her abrupt movement, and Parker scratched his ear apologetically. She crossed her legs and laced her hand in her lap, closing her eyes and allowing herself to drift into her mind palace, something she had created after watching Sherlock. The last thing Parker felt as she walked through the mental gate she had created was Sirius resting his head on her thigh. The Avengers sat behind the window, observing Parker. They looked on in confusion as Parker sat rigidly in silence. Her dog got up after a few minutes, pacing around her, head low as if it was guarding her, should anything happen.
Tony walked in, an apple in hand. "Kid's gonna be here in a few." He noticed Parker's strange behavior. "What's she doing?"
Wanda shrugged. "We've no idea."
"Excuse you," Clint said. "Don't sell the rest of us short." He stepped forward, picking up the bag of Parker's belongings that they had confiscated and withdrew her laptop. "The case on her laptop is of a black door, with the address 221B. Now that's a reference to Sherlock, and assuming she cared enough to buy merchandise from the show, she watches it quite often. I'm assuming what she's doing is visiting something called a mind palace, and the position she's in supports that theory, so-" Clint stopped when he realized everyone was staring at him.
"You watch Sherlock?" Steve asked, eyebrows raised.
"I have a life outside of the job!" Clint defended, putting Parker's belongings down again.
The door opened again and Peter Parker walked through. "Hey guys, what's-" he paused, looking through the window. "Hey why is Parker Williams in the containment cell?"
The Avengers stared at him, eyes wide. Tony turned to face his prodigy and pointed at the purple haired girl. "You know her?"
Peter nodded. "Yeah, she used to go to my school. Long before I did of course. She uh, she's really well known around there, she tested out at sixteen and went to college early. Not just any college either, she wound up at Cambridge. Started a pretty successful business after graduating when she was twenty." Peter explained. His eyebrows then knit together in confusion. "Wait, so why is she here?"
"Yeah, well that girl right there?" Steve gestured at the cell. "You're high school celebrity? She's also happens to be New York's top super villain, Havoc."
Peter's eyes widened. "You're kidding."
"Cap isn't exactly the type to joke around, Peter." Natasha piped up.
"But that's? I mean- what?" Peter stuttered, trying to grasp the situation.
"What else do you know bout her?" Tony asked. "Anything is helpful."
Peter squirmed under pressure. "Um... I know she has a younger sister named Hunter who graduated from the high school last year. Parker's business sells all kinds of things, from retro technology to vintage style clothes. She's clearly got a whole late 1900s vibe going on. Her stuff is real cheap too, it's really helpful to those who can't afford much." Peter said, a smile on his face, forgetting he had just learned this girl was a highly dangerous super villain. "Also the majority of her proceeds go to charities, animal shelters, and children's hospitals. Things like that. She's really down low about running the business though. She keeps her name out of the papers most of the time. Pretty humble person."
"Why do you know all this?" Clint asked.
"It's possible I might've saved her once?" Peter said, scratching the back of his neck. "I didn't exactly have a suit at that point, so she saw my face, but it actually turned out to be great, because now she sends a package of really cool stuff every month. Her subscription boxes cost a bit more than I can afford, but because I stopped that semi from hitting her, she just kinda let me have it for free? It was really cool of her." He paused and his face fell. "Dang. Too bad she's one of the evil dudes."
"See that's what confusing me." Natasha spoke. "Havoc's some villain who managed to blow up Rockefeller Center, caused the city- and us- a shit ton of money in repairs, and yet from what you've just told us, Parker Williams is a really good person who likes old technology and clothes? That's just weird."
"Maybe it's just an act to throw us off her trail." Clint said.
Natasha shrugged. "Maybe."
"Let's find out, shall we?" Tony said. He pressed down on the speaker button. "Rise and shine, princess!"Parker's eyes snapped open. Her gaze immediately went to the window, where the Avengers stood. A few of them were absent from the room, but the majority of them were still there.
"Damn, guys. I was in the middle of watching the fourth Harry Potter movie." She complained.
"How is that even possible?" Asked Sam, crossing his arms.
Parker tapped her temple with her index finger. "Mind palace, big bird. I remember everything. I suppose my telepathic abilities help somewhat, though."
"Don't call me big bird."
"Sure thing, tweety."
Tony cut in. "Okay guys, stop flirting-"
"Yikes, flirting?" Parker snorted. "Tweety's not my type."
Sam scoffed disbelievingly, "Oh please, I'm everybody's type."
"That's not what I mean, dumbass. What I'm saying is-"
Peter cut her off. "She means she's gay, Sam. Parker's a gay icon at Midtown High."
"Yeah what he said." Parker laughed.
A bunch of "oh's" came from the group. After a moment, Parker squinted up at Peter. "Oh hey, I know you! You're the guy who save me from that semi, right?" She asked, grinning up at the teenager. "Your name's what, Peter...?"
"Yeah, uh... Peter Parker, coincidentally." Peter responded.
"What are the odds. You getting the packages on time? Have there been any delivery problem, do you have any complaints?" Parker asked, curious to see how her business was doing.
"No! No complaints at all, actually, thank you so much-"
"Okay, this is great and all, but Parker isn't here to talk about her business. She's here to give us answers and information as to why she's been terrorizing New York for the past year." Steve interrupted.
"Woah hold on." Parker said. "First of all, cutting people off is incredibly rude, Rogers. You'd think a man from the 1940s would have some manners. God damn. Second of all, I just wanted to thank the dude who saved my life. My sister also says thanks Peter, by the way." She smiled at Peter before returning her attention to Steve. "And third of all, literally none of the things you think I did are my fault."
"Bullshit."
"Not bullshit." Parker snapped. "You can even have the cute brunette read my mind if you want. I don't care, as long as the truth gets out, and you get off my back."
At that moment, Wanda was truly grateful that she was hidden in the shadows, because otherwise the group would see the blush that was tinting her cheeks.
"Wanda?" Steve asked. "Are you comfortable with this?"
The brunette remained silent for a moment before answering, "Yes, I am."
Steve turned back to face Parker. "Very well. We'll send Wanda into the cell with you, but if you or your dog attacks her, we will have to contain you."
Parker looked around the room she was in. "Looks like you already have." She quipped. Steve glared at her. "Jeez, it was a joke. I'm not going to hurt her. I never attack anyone unless they attack me."
There was some movement from inside of the observation room and soon the containment room doors opened. Wanda walked in slowly, her gaze fixed on Sirius rather than Parker.
"He won't hurt you." Parker promised. "He loves just about anyone."
Wanda stiffened as Sirius walked up to her, but when he started licking her hand and wagging his tail, she visibly relaxed. "He looks like a wolf." Wanda commented as she ran her hand along the massive dog's back.
"He might be. I've no idea what kind of dog he is, and the vet didn't either." Parker shrugged. "We may never know."
Wanda sat across from Parker, crossing her legs. Sirius returned to Parker's side, curling up next to her. "In order for me to do this, I need you to open a mental link for me. That way I have access to your mind." Wanda paused. "Now that I say that out loud, it sounds rather terrifying. I promise I won't abuse the power you give me." The brunette reassured Parker, who laughed.
"Don't worry, I believe you." Parker smiled.
"Shall we begin?"
"Yes." Parker closed her eyes and began to concentrate. Gold psionic energy flowed around her hands and she reached her left hand out toward Wanda. The other girl's hand lit up with red psionic energy and she took Parker's hand, instantly being transported into Park's mindscape.* * *
The group behind the glass watched the two (three if you count the dog) for two hours until Wanda an Parker finally broke apart. Wanda stared at the purple hair girl with wide eyes before surprising everyone and pulling her into a tight hug.
"Thank you for sharing that with me." Wanda whispered. "I'm so sorry."
She pulled away and Parker smiled weakly at her. She was emotionally and physically drained after using her powers for so long, and for revisiting one of the darker parts of her past.
Wanda sat back and looked up at the people behind the glass.
"Well?" Tony said, impatient.
"She's telling the truth." Wanda announced. "And honestly, you owe her an apology."(Yes, I stayed up until 3:25 in the morning to get this to you guys. I have no regrets. I know the story is a bit foggy right now, that's on purpose. Everything will get clearer as time goes by. Hopefully. I'm gonna go make some tea now. Hope you enjoyed this. Lots of love.)
