Chapter 8: Guilty?

(Ok this chapter takes place after Jonah wakes everyone up. In the last chapter I kinda skipped court and went straight home so I'm going to do a court chapter)

Zachs POV

"WAKE UP ITS 5:45" I hear Jonah yell at us. I stretch and accidently fall out of bed. Corbyn chuckles outing his shirt on as I yelp. What? It scared me.

I finish getting ready at 6. I ran downstairs with a button up shirt and jeans. I notices everyone else already down here and talking. Jack and Daniel looked nervous. I felt so bad for them. Everything they have been through.

I grab some pop tarts and walk out the door after Jonah and Daniel. Corbyn and jack following me. Jonah and Daniel it in the front. In the back seat Corbyn sits on the right in in the middle and Jack is on the left.

*time skip to the court*

Daniel was shaking and I could hear jack and corbyn trying to calm him down. "I-i don't know if I can talk in
f-front of the jud-dge guys. I'm just really ner-rvous." Daniel stutters. Jack kisses him and soothes him.

I was kind of worried. Daniel could refuse to testify. I don't exactly remember the amendment but it was something where you don't want to say they were guilty or not. Uh oh. I support Daniel but what worries me is that jack may get hurt again. Daniel was the only bystander to Jack being shot. If he didn't testify kara could go free.

I walk over to Daniel. "Hey jack can I talk to him for a sec?" I ask jack.

"Yeah sure I will be inside." He says following Jonah and corbyn.

"Ok. Daniel i know this may be hard for you but I need you to testify." I say

"Wha- Why?" He says confused.

"Because you were the only by standard to Jack being shot if you don't testify kara could go free. Which could endanger you, Jack and me corbyn Jonah and our familys. I know that you don't want to but you have to do this. If not for you do it for jack or the guys. Please" I finish

"I-I will testify. Zach thanks if I hadn't know that I probably would have pleaded the 5th." (look it up I learnedit in social studies in 5th)

"Thanks Daniel."

He nods and we walk into the court room. The judge was reading threw the case and I look over seeing jack and corbyn sitting in the front row because jack witnessed it and corbyn had the video.  Jonah was in the back in the vistining spot. I wanted to comfort Daniel but I knew I had to sit by jonah.

When the judge banged his hammer ages the wood we all shut up. Geez this sounds like school. 

"Can Daniel Seavy please step forward to the post." The judge asked.

When Daniel stood up I could see him shaking. I felt so bad. I couldn't even imagine what it felt like to be him or jack  or even corbyn!

Daniels POV

"Can Daniel Seavy please step forward to the post." The judge said. I stood up shaking I saw kara smirking at the other post. I was so nervous. I walked forward and sat down. 

"Can you please tell me what happened Daniel?" The judge asked me.

"W-well I kissed jack and kara saw. So she punches me in the face. That's why I have the black eye." I says gesturing to my eye. " I ran off to my room.  A bit after that jack came in and told me that kara was threating my life and his if he didn't agree to date her."I told her. "Jack is this true?" The judge asked. He nodded. "Ok Daniel you may continue." She says nodding .

"After jack said that, Kara attempted to cover it up but jack got it on video. That's when he sent it to corbyn and he called the police. Kara ran out of the room. I heard the front door open and I knew that the police were there when it slammed. Jack and I ran to the back door to block her from escaping. She pulled a gun on us and told us to move. Jack didn't move but he shoved me out if the way as he grabbed the hand with the gun. She got the gun with her other hand and shot him. She then kicked him in a couple other spots. After that she ran out the door. And now we are here." I finish.

"Ok thank you Daniel. Jack Avery please come to the stand." The judge says after my story.

I get down and hug jack and whisper 'good luck' on his way up.

Jack's POV

After Daniel finish3d I was so proud of him. The judge called me to the stand. About halfway there Daniel hugged me and whispered good luck.

After I sit down the judge tells me to tell my story.  I tell her everything Daniel says but this time I tell her the part of corbyn and I conversation and my conversation with kara.

"After Daniel ran out kara kissed me. I attempted to pull away but I couldn't when she finally let go I slapped her. She told me she would tell the police I beat her up with no reason and she would hurt if not kill Daniel if I didn't agree to go out with her. I said yes because I didn't want Daniel hurt. I called corbyn and told him what happend  and he asked if I was recording fortunately I was because I was trying to fix my hair and I was using my phone as a mirror. I sent the video to corbyn and he called the police. Daniel told you the rest." I say looking over at Daniel and smiling.

"Ok thank you Jack. Corbyn besson please come forward and show me the video." She says.  After she watches it she asks for karas story.

"Well I came in and was looking for Jack and saw him kissing Daniel. Jack pushed Daniel away and kissed me. Daniel saw and ran away. He pulled a gun on jack and shot him. It was never me." She says smirking at Daniel who sat there with his mouth wide open. " The video was fake I think Daniel edited it to make him look innocent." She finishes looking over at the judge who laughs.

"I can tell you the footage wasn't fake because it was tested.  Also 2 of the neighbours saw it and talked to me earlier. You have a 30 year sentence for 3rd degree adult and another 5 years sit lying in court. Thank you and have a good day"
