All I wanted to do the next morning was reminisce in what Kane and I had shared together last night. Every touch, every whispered promise, every breath.

When I woke up to Kane's hand drawing circles in my back and a smile so big and uncommon on his face, I knew he felt the same joy and content that I did. I don't know how long we stayed like that, him tracing his fingers down my bare back and me tracing the outline of the bloody hands tattoo etched on his chest, right over his heart.

It all seemed too good to be true and I simply wanted to stay stuck in our little bubble, together and uninterrupted.

But good things always seem to come to an end and ours did the moment Wren flung our door open and barged straight in, stating "we're going into the city today."

If Wren was even a bit embarrassed by barging in on such an intimate moment she did not show it. But I guess she was used to it from growing up in a brothel. I don't even bother to cover myself farther than the blanket that is draped over my chest. I know Wren has seen far more in her life than exposed shoulders.

"No one ever taught you to knock before entering?" I hiss at her, annoyed that Kane and I's beautiful bubble was crashed onto reality once more.

She raises a brow to me. "Would it have made much of a difference? Besides, this is one of the more tame scenes I have walked in on."

"Doesn't mean it isn't annoying" Kane mutters beside me, not bothering to cover his exposed bare chest.

Wren smirks at him. "If I were you I'd be more annoyed by the fact your little king was able to send you, former general of the royal guard, down in one punch."

Kane glowers at her. "Now I understand what made you so desirable in your past occupation" he sarcastically snips back.

If it were anyone else in Wren's position, they probably would have screamed at Kane for that comment. But Wren being Wren simply gives him a devilish smile while stating "Make no mistake dispatched general, I was only this charming for the top clients."

"Why are we going into the city?" I ask her, cutting an end to her and Kane's bickering.

She turns back towards me. "Wesley was able to get the leaders of a couple different rebel groups to agree to meet with us and let us explain our plan for the future of Terrian after Jack is removed. If it goes well then by tomorrow we'll be 30,000 men stronger".

"30,000?" I gasp, not believing my ears.

Wren shoots me a smirk. "You're not the only one that wants to kill Jack. Mason is coming too. He said he's been feeling a bit useless lately."

"You don't say" I reply dryly. I have reached my end with Mason and his continuous pity party about not helping the cause more than he is but I'm done fighting him on things like this. After his little scene yesterday the last thing I was concerned with was his safety.

And though that thought scares me, it doesn't change the fact that it's true.

"We'll be down in 10" Kane answers for the two of us. With that, Wren sends me a final smirk before turning and leaving the room.

I let out a sigh before climbing out of the warm bed, much to my dismay.

But my irritation immediately changes into happiness when I hear the low whistle from behind me.

I turn around to look at the source and Kane grins even wider. "This view is even better" he exclaims, his eyes raking up and down my body thoroughly, pausing at my more intricate parts.

And I can't help but allow my heart to flutter at his reaction to seeing me like this, despite the fact that he saw it all already last night.

"Well you ever stop being a cheeky bastard?" I tease him, shooting a grin of my own to match his.
