Chapter 16: The First Game pt.2

We weren't just opening fire on them. Each time we took a small pop shot. Soon enough, They were half their size, and because of low morale a few started to run off. By the time we shot down more, they ran to the APC, and started to drive off. That's when we took it down. When we pulled the trigger that activated the satchel charge, a blue energy field went around the armoured vehicle and stopped it in its place.

We walked out of the building as a humvee came to a stop in front of us. Angela and Tracer both got out of the vehicle while the rest of the soldiers walked around the town searching it just in case.

"Great thinking, luv."

"Aw...thanks. But come on. These guys deserve some praise." I turn and point at the soldiers behind me. Angela and Lena hugged them all, and I stood back and laughed. I went into the humvee and got a radio frequency. 

"Command to Mercy, new orders. Stand guard of the town. There are reports of a incoming attack comprising of two different Paladin forces. This is Command, over and out."

I go to Angela and tell her the news. She lets out a sigh and says to the troops "Alright, two advancing forces are going to be attacking the town so we have to hold the ground. We cannot let them past this line. Set up what you can." And right when that is said, soldiers are running around getting their defenses ready. Tracer was barking out orders. Angela was on the radio. 

"Can you get any reinforcements or suppies? We lost a few vehicles during this raid, and many troops. We also need medical suppies."

"We can send a medical humvee over with a box of meds. But troops will be low. We aren't too exendable currently. Most of our reserves have been out and used. These guys are putting a dent in us."

"Schisse...Okay...send what you can. We need all the support we can muster."

"Alright. This is cross roads, over and out."

"Anegla, over and out."

I could tell Angela was stressed. I walk up to her and put a hand on her shoulder."What's wrong?"

"I don't want to lose the game...the town is depending on us...on me...to win..."

"Hey...look at me. Angela, we will win. I know it. We are going to hold stronge, no matter the coming forces. All of us can do it..." I take her hand "We can do it."

She nodded, gave me a peck on the cheek and met up with Tracer and they started talking about the plans. "(Y/N), I want you to take your original team and flank around the advancing forces. We need to flank them. And from what I know..." She started drawing on the map. "This is what the attack will look like, according to Crossroads."

"Yes, ma'am." I say looking at her. She smiles and I walk off and get the 15 soldiers I took with during the bridge battle. We walk away from the town.

40 Minutes have passed and it's quiet. We sat around in the dirt until we heard shots. That is when we stood up and started looking around. We saw the advancing troops. Our Humvee's started firing and we stood and took a bunch of pop shots at them. They're dropping like flies, but fuck were there so many of them. Troops ran past our position which gave us the perfect opprtunity to hit the backs of them.

We open fired. With the combined fire from the front of the troops and the back, they dropped even quicker. In 5 minutes the unit of maybe 50, became less then half of that. 5 of the flanking force stayed back to help finish them off, and the rest of us, went around the second attacking force.

We did the same thing, except the bullets that didn't hit the enemies came through and killed one soldier, and injured 3 more. We picked up the dead, and continued on after the third force. By this point, the attacking force probably had no morale. The broke really easily. after a minute, they had lost at least 15 of the 50 and they started running. The humvees came around and helped the other humvee take them down. By this point they were 1/8 their size. We started celebrating but I heard something strange over head.

I looked up and saw something fly down. "AIRSTRIKE!" right when I said that we all jumped down and heard the airstrike hit the ground. I looked up and saw the gold energy it produced and say everyone light up with it.

When it was done, we stood in awe...
