It's Friday, as I'm sitting on the right side of Miles in my black shirt and my Avalon High Varsity Track Jacket, drinking a Cherry Coke, as he's eating Popcorn, and we're surrounded by parents and peers, watching the football game. "Ready? Down. Twenty eight, set. Hut!" One of our football players says, and they tackle to protect Will, and I see him running wirh the ball. "Second. Long on the thirty five." The announcer says, and we see Will fake left. "Wagner takes left under pressure." Announcer says, and Will throws it. "He throws deep to a wide open Benwick. He's makes the catch." Announcer says, as we see Benwick catch the ball, and starts running, about to be tackled, and he breaks it. "He breaks the tackle. I don't know how he kept his feet inbounds on that one. But he's still going." Announcer says, and we see Benwick make the touchdown. "Touchdown for the Knights!" Announcer says, as we all jump up screaming, cheering, and clapping, and I see Will take his helmet off, looking at me. "With a win over the last place Crusaders next week, Will Wagner and his Knights clinch a trip to the State Championship." Announcer says, as I smile and nod at Will, and I see Lance coming over to him, as they do the bro hug. "What was that all about?" Miles asks, and I look at him. "What was what?" I ask, and take another sip of my drink. "Will Wagner and his go to wide receiver, Lance Benwick, have put on another clinic for us tonight. Miles and I soon arrive to Will's party, as he's wearing a white formal long sleeve, untucked, and a black tie, jacket, and pants, as I'm in my all black with my leather jacket and contacts. "Tell me again why I'm at a party with a bunch of meathead jocks?" He asks. "I'm a, well, half jock, Miles. Am I a meathead?" I ask, smiling, walking in front of him, and turn around, looking at him, as we both stop. "No, but this party is the first step." He says, and we see Cody, who's a bigger football player, look at him. "Hey, Cody." I say. "Sup, kid." He says, and walks off, and I look at Miles. "Fine, then don't come in." I say, and we see a blonde girl walk past us, and she turns around, smiling, and back around, walking to the house. "Maybe I can make a quick appearance." Miles says, as I look at him, and grab his right arm, dragging him to the house, and I let his arm go, and open the door with my right hand, and walk in, looking at all the familiar faces, and turn around, seeing Miles close the door, gently, and turn back around, as I feel him close behind me, and smile as more people walk past us. "Hey." One of the guys say, as we turn around. "What?" Miles asks, and stands next to me. "See? People hate me." He says. "Miles, that was a normal 'hey'. Try to smile and be friendly. Just this once. See what happens." I say, and we stop at the girl from earlier, and I recognize her now. She's Francesca Blair, and I see her and Miles smile at each other, and I turn to him. "See? Now go talk to Francesca." I say. "Talk to who?" He asks. "Miles, give it up, you obviously like her." I say, and he glances at her. "She's so pale. It's weird. She's probably a vampire. Teenage vampires are, like, everywhere these days." He says. "So you're not gonna go talk to her?" I ask. "Nope." He says, shaking his head. "And this has nothing to do with you being afraid of being rejected?" I ask. "Why should I care if I'm rejected by a vampire?" He asks. "Vampires are hotter than we are. Or should I say colder?" I ask, and laugh, and sigh. "I give up." I say, and we all hear a scream, and run outside, to see Marco by the food table. "Hey, what's going on?" Will asks, stepping over to Marco. "Your friends are bitches. We seem to have a minor pest control problem." Marco says, and I noticed a bunch of real life spiders crawling onto the hotdogs, as Marco picks one up with his right hand, smirking. "Then I guess we better get rid of the fucking pests." Will says. "Subtle." Marco says. "Dude, you're ruining the party. Quit being an asshole." Will says, and we notice the football players behind him. "Need your little goons to save you from the terrifying black widow? Who's absouletly lethal?" Marco asks. "No, I need them to stop me from doing something I'll regret." Will says, as I walk over to him, just in case a fight is about to break out. What the hell am I doing? "The only thing I regret is my Mom marrying your Dad." Marco says, smirking, as I step in between Will and Marco. "You think just because you wear a leather jacket makes you look all tough?" Marco asks. "Well, that, and I'm not afraid to tackle you into the pool." I say, crossing my arms, and Marco sighs. "Come on, guys. This party's not worth it. They even let the uber nerds in." Marco says, as I see him walk past Miles, and see his friends walk past me. "Yeah. While I'm at Yale and you're in jail. I'll make sure to tell everyone just how cool you are." Miles says, and I pick up a baby tomato with my right hand, and throw it at his head. "What?" He asks, looking at me, and I roll my eyes, and Will turns to me. "Hey, Arthur. Sorry about that. Marco.. he's complicated." He says, crossing his arms. "What the hell is his problem, anyway?" I ask. "He's just really angry. That his Dad died three years ago, that his Mom married my Dad, that I'm.." He says, uncrossing his arms, and I give a small laugh. "I can tell why he might be a little jealous, Will. You're kind of perfect." I say, and he smiles. "I mean, your game.. was perfect." I say, and he nods. "Hey, I only got through that game because of what you said. And well, last night." I say, and cover his mouth with my right hand. "We have ears on us." I say, and we both look at Miles, and I put my hand down. "Great. Now he's never gonna stop asking me about it." I say. "He probably could care less. If he does, I won't be mad. He's your best friend of whatever." He says, smiling more. "So, thank you." He says, and we both nod. "I really should go find Jen." He says. "Yeah. Of course." I say, and see Miles has another one of his headaches, and we run over to him. "Miles?" I ask. "You ok, man?" Will asks, as Miles stops. "Yeah, I'm ok. Fine.. you will be, too." Miles says to Will. "Uh, thanks. I think." Will says, smiling, as we glance at each other. "See you later, Arthur." Will says, smiling at me, and I smile back. "Bye." I say, and he runs off, and I look at Miles. "What was that all about, Miles? Are you really ok?" I ask. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just.. socialising makes me dizzy." He says, nodding. "Well, I'm gonna go try to find a bathroom, ok? Don't faint or anything if someone says hello. I'm starting to worry about you." I say, walking backwards, and then turn around, walking back into the house, and look around for a sign of a bathroom, and walk up the stairs, and open a door with my right hand, and take a look around, and realize it's Will's room, and see the Homecoming Crown sitting on a throw pillow, and I have a flashback of waking up and looking through the Order of the Bear Journal, and see the picture of the crown, and have a vision of someone being crowned. Arthur being crowned, and I snap back into reality, and take a step back, gasping, and grab the door with my left hand, and close it, and start walking around again, and hear Lance talking. "You're so sexy with that top off." He says, and I see him shirtless, and Jen in a bra and jeans, as their holding hands, and I hide behind the wall, and glance back at them, as they're making out, and they stop, and look at me, and I turn around, running down the stairs. "Arthur, wait! I want to talk to you. Arthur, please!" She exclaims, as we walk into the living room. "It's none of my business, Jen." I say. "Arthur, please." She says, as I look at her, and she grabs my right hand, dragging me into Will's Dad's office. "Please don't tell Will." She says. "Don't tell Will that he's being lied to by the two people he trusts the most?" I ask. "It's more complicated than that." She says. "It really isn't, actually." I say. "Arthur, I love Will. I'll always love him. Lance does, too. The three of us, have been best friends since second grade. The last thing we want to do is hurt him. That's why we haven't told him yet. If he found out now, everything would fall apart." She says. "Like Camelot." I say. "Exactly. It would be like exactly what happened in Camelot." She says. "From Moore's class when he told us about Guinevere and Lancelot were together and it was the destruction of Camelot. He lost faith in everything and everyone, and didn't have the strength to go on." I say. "And Will has so much at stake right now, with the championships and the scholarships. We can't destroy him like this." She says. "We? I wasn't the one with my top off kissing Lance." I say, as she's crying. "Arthur, we didn't plan for this to happen. It just.. did. Lance and I see just meant to be together. Haven't you ever felt that?" She asks, and I sigh. "So, you won't tell him? You'll let us do it when the time is right?" She asks, and I sigh. "I'll have to think about it." I say, and walk past her, as I head for the front door. "So you gonna tell Will about Jen and Lance, or what?" Miles asks, and I turn around, looking at him, as he's holding a sandwich in his right hand. "How did you know?" I ask, and he bites it. "I had a.. feeling." He says, and I shake my head. "Never mind." I say, and look behind him at Will, and turn around, runnin off.
