It was Monday. I dreaded this day. One, I didn't want to leave Ayden. He would be staying at a daycare near Modest. It was highly credited and I got a tour of the place. It was nice. I just had really bad separation anxiety. I hated leaving my son. If I could be a stay at home mom, I would. But I had to work. "Ayden, I want you to be a good boy okay. Mommy will be back soon." I kissed the top of his head. I was prepared for him to have a huge temper tantrum. " 'Kay mommy." He said before he went along to play with the other children. Well I wasn't expecting that. I had just enough time to get to work. I missed working at Modest. I walked past my old desk and remembered how I wanted to move on. That seemed like forever ago. I walked into my new office. I had an amazing view. "Hello, neighbor." I heard someone say. I turned around and saw Marcel. He was leaning against the doorframe. Why was he so sexy? I pushed those thoughts out of my head. "Neighbor?" I trailed on. "I'm right across the hall." He pointed his thumb behind him. I looked and saw that I could see directly into his office from my chair. Great. This day just keeps getting better and better. Yes, I was being sarcastic. "We have a meeting in ten minutes in the second conference room." He told me before he left. I got settled into my office before I headed to the conference room. The only chair left was next to Marcel. I groaned on the inside and took my seat. "Okay everyone. We have a big project coming up. There is a new band that is stirring up some buzz. (Y/n), I was thinking you should go to their next show and check them out. Meet with them afterwards. We want to make this band global. Do whatever you can. I would like you to work with Marcel to set budgets for things. He recently started helping with the acts so he will be of good use." Juliet, the director of marketing told us. So now I had to work on a project with him! I wanted to say that I would rather work with anyone else, but I didn't want it to cause drama. "Looks like we are neighbors and partners." Marcel whispered to me as Juliet was talking about something else. I faintly smiled at him and turned my attention back to Juliet. During the rest of the meeting, I didn't look at Marcel. I was aware at how close he was to me and I didn't like the excitement that I was feeling. Once the meeting was over I went back to my office. I was looking up the band online and someone knocked on my door. "Come in." I told them. Marcel came in and I sat up straight. "Can I talk to you for a second?" He asked me. I nodded and motioned for him to sit down. "Are you okay with us working together? It seems like you aren't really happy to be partnered with me." He said. He always could read me like an open book. "I'm fine honestly. I'm just adjusting to being back, that's all." I lied. "I know our past is.." He started to say but I cut him off. "Marcel, this isn't the time." He looked down at his hands, "We do need to talk though, (Y/N)." "I know." I whispered. "Can I take you out to dinner tonight? We could catch up and talk about things." He offered. I thought about it for a minute. It would be a good thing to get over the awkward conversation. I nodded my head, "Sure, Marcel."
