Differences Separate Us (Orion/Starscream x reader)

"Look at her Knockout, the way she talks, laughs, walks even. Her frame and face plate are GORGEOUS. Primus she is like the most precious thing in the whole universe."

Knockout roles his optics, clearly annoyed.

"Starscream, you have been talking on and on about (Y/n) since you laid optics on her. You can never be with her, she's an Autobot. AND most importantly, she's with Orion."

Starscream sighs and takes a swig of his energon. It was currently lunch at the academy, and you could tell the difference between who was who. All of the Autobots had bright colored frames and the Decepticons dark colors. The color of optics, blue ore red, also gave it away.

Breakdown and Megatronus join the table as they take their seats. Breakdown next to Knockout, and Megatronus next to Starscream. Megatronus pats Starscream's shoulder plate.

"It's ok, I'm sure many if not all of Decepticon femmes would die to be with you. You don't need fragging Autobots to make you happy."

Starscream looks back over at me. I was currently sitting next to Orion Pax as we chatted and laughed with eachother. All of our best bots were sitting with us Ratchet was sitting next to Wheeljack since they were a couple, the same with Jazz and Prowl, also Crosshairs and Drift. Bumblebee was talking with Ironhide and Hound. Arcee was talking with Elita One and Chroma. 

I look over at the Decepticons and feel sadness in my spark. They get treated like scrap, and we get treated like kings. I wonder if they actually ever feel any happiness in their spark. Some of them even look like they deserve femmes...

~After school~

Our group walks out of the academy in a big cluster. All of the couples were holding servos, talking and laughing with everybot. Bee was doing impressions of everyone while we tried to guess, it was hilarious!

Across the academy yard, the Decepticons were watching us with envy.

"Look at those 'I'm better than everyone else' glitches." Breakdown scowls.

Soundwave puts his thumb up, showing that he agrees. Starscream was paying no attention to anything, besides (Y/n). His spark ached for her, he wanted her for himself. 'Frag Orion' he thought as he watched the two laugh together. He was keeping (Y/n) away from him, how dare he. Starscream looks down at his chest plate to see the Decepticon symbol engraved in. He sighs and puts his helm in his hands with anger and sadness coursing through him.

"Hey, how about we all go to the Energon Pit for some high grade energon and enjoy ourselves." Knockout suggests. 

They all agree and start to head over to the Energon Pit.

"Hey, do you guys want to hang at the Energon Pit tonight? My treat." Orion offers the group.

Everyone answers at the same time with a combination of 'yes' and 'thanks'.

"That was really sweet babe."

He smiles warmly and takes my servo into his.

"It's the least I could do, everybot is always there for one another and we all deserve a treat. Especially you, for being the best sparkmate ever."

I blush and give him a quick peck to the lips.

"Thanks sweetspark, and your the best also."

We smile at each other and continue walking with everyone.

A few cycles later, we arrive at the pit and grab the big table in the corner where we always sit. I volunteer to grab energon for everyone so I head to the bar and place the order.

The Decepticons soon walk in after, taking a seat at the opposite end of the Pit.

"Megatronus?" Starscream asks shyly.

"Yes?" Megatronus answers him, looking concerned.

"Do... do you think that me becoming an Autobot would make (Y/n) like me?" Starscream asks.

Megatronus shakes his head as soon as Starscream asks.

"Starscream, you mustn't change yourself for the liking of others. You have to be yourself."

Starscream mumbles a quick 'okay' and he then heads to go get energon for everyone.

A mech comes up next to me and orders a large amount of energon. I look over and I see that it is Starscream.

"Hi Starscream." I say to him to get his attention.

He looks over at me and goes optics wide.

"He-hey (Y/n)! H-how are you?!"

I smile.

"I'm good, you?"

He nods rather quickly.

"Yes, great actually."

It gets awkward as we wait, then I see that he looks like he wants to say something.

"Is...is there something you want to say?" I ask.

He looks back to me and takes a deep breath.

"W-would you like to... go out? W-with me?"

My optics open wide in surprise and my mouth opens a bit. Doesn't he see me with Orion all the time? I mean, he seems like a likable mech but I can't.

"I'm really sorry Starscream, I have a boyfriend."

He sighs and looks down.

"I know you do, I just wanted to try."

His energon is brought out and he walks back to his table with his helm hanging. My spark sank. He was crushed by my reaction. 

I am given the energon and I take it back to the table. I give a cube to everyone and sit down next to Orion. 

"What was Starscream saying to you?" He asks.

I sigh and shake my helm.

"He asked me out even though he knew I was with you."

Orion sighs.

"He has never been shown any love by anyone. He longs for somebody to care for him so he won't have to suffer any longer."

I rest my helm on his shoulder plate.

"It's horrible, I can't imagine how he must feel."

~Over with the Decepticons~

Starscream arrives back at the table with the energon and takes a seat next to Megatronus.

"What is wrong Starscream?" Megatronus asks with deep concern.

"(Y/n)- I asked if she would like to go out with me, but she said that she was with Orion."

Megatronus shakes his helm and puts a servos on Starscream's shoulder plate.

"She does not deserve you, she does not care about anyone besides herself and Orion. Selfish Autobots, they will never learn how to care."

Starscream puts his helm in his servos and lets a stray energon tear roll down his faceplate. He knows that he will never win over (Y/n), especially from Orion Pax.

I have to say something that you probably heard multiple times, but it's the most true thing I have ever heard. Love yourself for whoever you are. In the story above, Starscream longs for (Y/n)'s love and thinks he should change himself to be with her. Don't change yourself for the liking of others! Find someone who will love you for exactly who you are. And Starscream, we all love you for who you are baby!
