She leaned against the wall and watched as he took her hand.

She should've known.

Her heart broke with every step they took together, as if they were made for each other, with each step in perfect unison.

She tried to focus on anything, anything but them.

But she couldnt.

She couldn't prevent the tears from swelling in her eyes, she balled her fist and dug her long nails into her skin.

A habit she had almost forgotten about.

Her heart was beating faster than ever before, and she felt as if she couldn't breathe.

She saw the way he was looking at her.

A look she had known all too well.

She thought he couldn't see her, standing all alone by the wall choking back tears.

But he did.

She felt her heart stop when he looked at her.

"I'm sorry Princess."

He placed his lips onto hers, and Courtney let out a scream.

"Courtney! Wake up!"

She opened her eyes and found herself crying and she felt as if she couldn't breathe.

Duncan was sitting up, his teal eyes were filled with fear.

"Princess what's wrong?"

Courtney looked at him and didn't say anything, she just began to cry harder and fell into his arms.

He sat up in bed and held her as she cried, this wasn't the first night this had happened.

For weeks now, actually.

Ever since she found out Gwen was going to the wedding, she had the same nightmare every night.

"I don't want to lose you." Courtney whispered.

Duncan held her tighter and kissed her head, "You won't."

He practically rocked her for a solid ten minutes, he stopped when he felt her heart slow down.

She pulled away and looked at him with her swollen eyes, "Im sorry."

Duncan pushed the hair out of her face that was stuck due to the tears, "Don't be."

She sniffled and laid back down, she hated herself for thinking about it. She knew it wasn't his fault, she understood she shouldn't be worried.

It was two years ago.

She knew he was happy with her, I mean, he was with Gwen for four years and never once got a pet.

That's something, right?

Just as she closed her eyes she felt his hairy arms over her.

She hated herself for becoming so attached to him, she knew if he ever left she would completely break.

Maybe that's how Gwen felt.

She shook off the thought, if Gwen did truly love him she wouldn't have cheated on him.

She let her thoughts cloud her brain and she couldn't fall back asleep.

Duncan, on the other hand, slept like a baby.

He softly snored in her ear, a feeling she used to hate but now was used to.

She loved the little things about him, the soft snoring, how his eyes light up whenever he sees her or Bandit, the way he whispers in her ear while they're cuddling, how his heart beats fast whenever he has a nightmare.

She smiled at the thought of it all, she loved him.

She knew he wouldn't leave, no he loved her too much to do such a thing.

So why was she so scared?
