Chapter 9: The Funeral

Dawn's Point of view

A week after Peggy's death it was finally time for the funeral. The funeral was in England because that's where Peggy was originally from. Me and Steve and the rest of the crew were invited to the funeral. We got to meet some of Peggy's kids and Great Grandkids they all loved the crew because they were the avengers, I didn't really call myself one because I haven't gone on any missions and I've only trained a little not much though. Steve said Fury really wants me to get my butt moving because he wants to see what I have and how I'll be a good use to the team. The Funeral was beautiful flowers everywhere an amazing church, I felt bad for Steve, Peggy was his first love, he was never suppose to "die" more than 70 years ago, they were suppose to grow old together, have kids, be happy. We all sat in the front of the church, everyone on the team knew that this was very hard for Steve so on the way here I told Dad to be nice to him on this hard day. Steve helped carry Peggy's casket out of the church and into the car that would take her to the cemetery where she would be buried. As steve carried Peggy's Casket I saw a tear slip down his face. After the Funeral Dad took everyone home except me and Steve we got a hotel because I knew this was hard on Steve and he wasn't ready to go home. I would be a mess if my first love just died. Soon he looked at me with his puffy red eyes and smiled and walked over to me pulling me into a hug I rubbed his back. I was his love now, his one and only. Peggy told me to always make him happy and I'm going to keep that promise, as long as I live. A week after the funeral Steve started acting himself again he wasn't as sad as he was before, but I knew somewhere in his heart he still loved her and she still loved him.
