"Oh come on Joseph!" Gideon whined, stomping his feet in protest. His bottom lip was sticking out in a pout and frustration was clear in his eyes as he glared at Josephine in annoyance.
"No means no, Geo." Josephine sighed tiredly as she removed her leather gloves from her fingers and threw them on the sofa to the left. She squeezed her eyes, body screaming for her to rest, as she walked up the wooden stairs. Gideon hot behind her tail still pouting like a child.
"Oh come on! Please!" He begged getting on he's knees, hands intertwined together in a begging pose once they reached the top of the stairs. His eyes brimmed with tears as he looked up at Josephine. Pure annoyance ignited in Josephine as she watched her little brother beg.
Josephine hated weakness, especially when one begged. She didn't understand the meaning of having to beg for what she wanted. As a child, Josephine was taught that if she was to want something that she'd have to fight for it. Break the rules for it or even kill for it. But never, Never, beg for it. Because begging shows weakness and weakness gets you killed. I had to learn that do hard way, Josephine thought bitterly as she stared at half of her right hand that was covered in burned flesh.
It was a miracle that the doctors had been able to save her hand. The fire gave her memories she did not wish to reminisce of.
"Fine." She grunted tiredly. Gideon's eyes lit up like a Christmas light. Josephine's eyes softened a bit as she looked at her last remaining family, his eyes shining with happiness and a smile bright as the sun.
"But...?" Gideon urged her on, knowing that there was always a catch for his sister to let him out into the open world alone.
"But I'm coming with." She said, eying her brother carefully. Gideon's eyes widen, but before Josephine could say a world, Gideon cut her off with a simple "ok" and a childishly mocking salute.
Shaking her head in slight amusement, Josephine walked into her temporary bedroom. It wasn't much. Hell, it wasn't your average teenage room either. On the left side of the wall were posters of maps of the town they lived in, Kalamazoo. On the other side of the room were two bunker beds, Military styled. There was a desk in the middle of the room. On top of the desk laid multiple types of guns, bullets, knives, and two bombs.
Josephine said tiredly. rubbing the bridge of her nose, Josephine sat on the lower bunker bed. Having to bend her back because she was a but tall. She stood at 5'8 but with the heels she wore she was 5'11.
She cracked the kink in her neck as she looked around the room. Wondering about the future and the past. All the things she could've prevented if she had listened to her teacher, Eros Adonis.
With a deep sigh, Josephine laid on her back on the hard mattress and Stared at the map hung on her wall.
Josephine laid still, letting her guard down which also let the demons free from their cage in the back of her mind.
Memories of her childhood haunted her, making her wanting to cry. Though she didn't intend to, a tear trailed down her dark skinned cheek, snapping her out of her daze. Once again locking her demons away and with them, her humanity.
Short I know, but Bear with me.
