*Dialogue heavy chapter. I have to work on that. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy.
----------------------------It had been nearly a month and we still hadn't spoken to each other. I was wrong for going to see her in the state I was in, but this is ridiculous, and that's coming from me, one of the most headstrong people to have walked the earth. She evaded every text, call, and attempt to contact her. I could've easily shown up at the bakery and taken her to the back kitchen to hash everything out, but I figured it best not to mess with her place of business. It'd tick me off to be interrupted during my hours at the company, so I figured she would feel the same. That being daid I went for the next best thing, her house.
After I'd gotten off of work at what was maybe 7:30 I got in my truck and drove to her place. The sidewalk had several cars on it, so I parked a little far back and got out. I made my way up her porch. I jogged up the the stairs then tapped the door using the door knocker. After three knocks I stepped back.
From inside I heard a voice say "Go answer it."
When it was silent I waited for a while before I heard footsteps. The door opened and I was faced with a man in a Duke hoodie, basketball shorts, and Nike socks.
"What can I help you with?" He questioned leaning on the door frame.
I cleared my throat and straightened my suit then said,"I need to see the woman who lives here."
"You sure you got the right house?" he chuckled. Of course I did what kind of question was that.
"Yeah I'm here to se-"
"Who is it Andrew?" she yelled cutting off my answer
"Some guy in a suit, brown eyes, dark hair, a little shorter than me. You know him?"
I heard the movie stop and then she appeared. She frowned at me then fixed her face to show a grimace I knew all too well.
"Andrew, c'mon." she said trying but failing to pull him from his spot at the door.
"Amina wait," I said taking a step into the door jam. She hadn't even spoken with me yet and already she was trying to be rid of me.
" You can't be stepping in people's houses. We don't know you like that. Back up." her brother said sternly taking up space in the door and blocking her from view.
"She knows me like that." I asserted
"Is that so?" he said turning and looking between us for confirmation
Amina only stared blankly at me, refusing to answer, so I answered, "Yes, she's my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend you say." he questioned rubbing his chin.
"That's correct."
"Well isn't there usually squeals and hugging? She doesn't look too happy to see you."
"That's why I'm here."
"You want me to let him in?" he asked turning to look at Amina
"No."
"Yes." I countered
"No." she repeated stubbornly folding her arms over her chest.
"Amina you two obviously have something to talk about. You're giving him the meanest stank face I've ever seen. Even if y'all just sit out here and talk it needs to be done. If he came here it must be important."
"Why are you siding with him? I'm your sister."
"I'm not taking sides, I hardly know the guy. I'm being the voice of reason. Whatever it is between you two needs to be worked out. You can be stubborn as all knows how, and that is gonna have you single."
