This Is What I Get For Procastinating? Really??

Chapter 1

"Jake." I breathed out. "What are you doing here?"
He grinned like a schoolboy. He looked even better than I remembered. Damn you universe. This is what I get for procrastinating?? Really?
"I'm starting here from this year. Third year in Bioinformatics."

On hearing that I almost threw up all my breakfast and the coffee I had on my way here. Oh hell no. I will not let him ruin my college experience.Its supposed to be the best time of my life! But I was not going to give him the satisfaction of knowing that.

I removed the fakest smile I could find from my 'smiles required for when an ex shows up unannounced ' bag and screwed it on. "That's nice. More bioinformants are needed in the world. You should tour the campus, it's really pretty. Me and Liam have to get going before the evening rush descends . See you around"
Liam seemingly had other ideas "Hey Soph, if you me and Jake are all going to be touring the campus then lets tour the campus together. The more the merrier right?"

" I don't think that Jake would like to tag along with us. I'm sure he has some other plans with his friends" I hoped and prayed that he would notice my unwillingness and not force the point.

"Yeah, I have some plans but I would love to join you some other time" Jake politely turned down the offer. Always a gentlemen wasn't he? You'd have to dig real deep to find the monster.

"Well till next time then" Liam smiled and walked out of the apartment and I shifted past Jake but had not taken two steps towards the door when he caught my wrist. I wish I could say that his touch did not affect me but, the minute our skin made contact all those feelings I had buried in the past three years came rushing back. I flinched like someone had burnt me and tried to extract my hand but Jake seemed not very interested in letting it go.
I turned back and said "Please let me go. There is someone waiting for me."

"We need to talk"

"We don't. I am going to tell you the same thing I told then. There is nothing left to talk about. I think you hashed things out pretty clearly back then. Please let me go. There is someone waiting for me. It would be rude to leave them there." I said

"It's not abou-"

"Whatever it is about, I am not interested, so just leave Jake. Please."
I pulled my hand away roughly but he caught it and lightly pulled it again.

"Let her go you dumbnut and get out of this apartment before I kick your ass personally. And if I even get so much as a hint that you showed your face here again you'd have me to deal with." Zora spoke up.

Both of us jumped. I had completley forgotten she was there. He sent me another pained expression and silentley walked out of the apartment. I sat down on the couch and and caught my breath. After all these years he still knocked the wind out of me.

"Hey, you ok?" Zora asked

"Been better." I smiled back at her. "I should go. Liam might be wondering where I vanished off to, Have a nice date. Bye. Call me if you manage to come back tonight" I winked and closed the door behind me. As soon as it all sunk in questions started flooding into my brain.

Why had he come back?

Why after two whole years of silence had he shown up suddenly in my life, in my apartment?

Suddenly I felt extremely queasy. I felt like throwing up.Had mom known about this? She was close friends with Jake's mother. And If she did, why didn't she tell me. She knew exactly how hard it was for me after he and I broke up. I would have to have a talk with her when I got home.

"Hey you okay?" Liam asked.
"Yeah I'm fine" I answered.
"You sure?"
" Yeah 100%."
"If you want we can do this some other day?"

"I'm okay Liam. I am okay. I promise. Now do you wanna get on with this or not. I want to beat the evening rush. Its real crazy."

"You'r used to it right? he asked

"yeah, of course. Why?

"Well there is nothing wrong with being out past curfew is there?" He said grinning at me

I laughed. " Where are you going with this Liam?"

"Well Sophia Volesky since your exams got over today and I currently have the social life of a snail how about a night out in the wild side? Just like old days?"

Liam always made me feel better. Some hard liquor was exactly what I needed tonight. "Best.Idea.Ever. Lets do this"

Maybe just maybe I would be able to get through this.
