I was standing in line in my favourite coffee shop and was chatting with Lola over text. It had been a year since the whole Jake fiasco, and a lot had happened since then. Lola and Liam got married, and had a baby on the way!! They asked me to be its godmother (and of course I said yes!).

My relationship with my father, though strained was getting better day by dy. We had talked and hugged the entire thing out. Apparently he was more hurt by my betrayal than my mothers because they were sleeping together again. (Weird, I Know!).

Jake had not attempted to contact me in any manner or form, for which I was grateful for, though I had heard from my mother that he had started seeing another girl. I was happy for him. He also switched his major from bio to business, which was again a relief, since I didn't have to see him around campus or in class.

I too had gone on a few casual dates but it hadn't resulted in anything. It was not like I was actively seeking anything out though.

Just as I was picking up my order, Lola texted me a meme, which made be double over in laughter, almost banging into someone who was picking up some stirrers.

"Whoa, careful there, wasting coffee is a crime around these parts"

That voice sounded damn familiar.

"I am so sorry, I wasn't paying attention, can I-"

I stopped midsentence. Of course, those black eyes, how could I forget them. He was staring right back at me with and amused look on his face,

"Well, well, look who it is, my damsel in distress."

"Hey" I said, my voice suddenly breathless.

"Hi, how are you?" he said grinning

"I am fine. Thankfully not burned. Can I ask you a question though?"

"Shoot."

"What are you doing here Alex?"
