YAY!

I got new gear!

Ok, so let me start off with the fact that I am still using hire gear, on Wednesday I got some new gear. The hire gear hockey pants I was wearing were way too bulky and looked rude, I looked like a tent. And the hire helmet was bright blue. Eww.

So on Wednesday, when I had saved up enough money we did the big drive out to the nearest hockey shop, which is an hour away from where I live, through rush hour traffic. It sucks. But yeah, I got some slim-fitting hockey pants and a really good black helmet that looks really good. I only need to buy shin guards and gloves now, then I'll have all my own gear.

I did the Wednesday adult training to try out my gear, and it is soooo much better. During the training, towards the end we had a 4 v 4 and I 'angled' (Basically smashed) this guy into the boards. Me being the only girl, everyone was like 'ooohh shitt!!' It was really funny. Then I tried to do it one one of the bigger guys but ended up on my ass. I managed to get the puck away from him though so I'll count that as a victory.

And then Thursdays training.... I honestly think I died.

In the first hour and a half of training (LTP), at the start we set up these squabs on the ice called barriers. They are pretty high standing up, about halfway up my shin, and about as long as my forearm. Coach decided to allow us to have a jumping competition, and put four of these things together and we have to two foot jump it.

I made it, landing nicely on the other side, and since I was the first person to give it a go, everyone was like 'Woah she's so good!' so that was pretty good.

And then the smallest goalie in our league, Gavin, decided to give it a go.

He's like, 11.

So you can imagine this tiny goalie, decked up in tonnes of gear, trying to jump a gap that quite a few players didn't make. I could just see him absolutely going for it, then just jumping, spread eagle, then belly-flopping on the barriers. It was hilarious - Most of us literally fell over from laughing so hard. Gavin was grinning so much though, it was so funny.

I reckon that if I didn't have my new pants though, I wouldn't of made it. My old ones were just too bulky.

Of course, later on in the league training I nearly got into a fight. There was a all v all, and this one kid was pretty much goose guarding, waiting to get the puck to he could score. I body slammed him out of the way (Not that hard) and then he turned around and completely shoved me to the ground. I was really pissed off, and if he hadn't skated away like a pussy I would have pummeled his face in, A. because that move is illegal, and B. no one messes with me.

Anyways, gotta go to my next class.
