Yesterday (4/04/17) Was amazing because dad and I went to see New Zealand Vs. Turkey in the IIHF World Champs, division II group B 2017.
I was absolutely stunned and amazed at the grace that these players had on the ice (as well as their brutality) and it was truly epic. I think that this was one of the first ice hockey games that my dad has ever been to, so I had to explain the basics to him.
I fist-pumped every person in the New Zealand team, well, all but one, but it was still awesome.
We won 4 - 1.
I really wanted one of the jerseys, and I was so overwhelmed when my dad said that I could get one. I got number 24, my favorite player number. It was $125 so I was blown away at how generous dad was being.
I'm excited though because I saw one of the ladies there that helped me on my first day with my ice hockey, and she said that I could wear the jersey for training (It fits over my gear), as long as I didn't wear it to anything formal.
I'm super pumped!
Oh, and there was luckily only one person who got seriously injured - I think it was number 11 from the Turks. He refused to get stretcherd (Is that a word?) off, and I yelled out 'Good on ya Turks!' Which started the audience clapping and cheering. He got smashed in either the neck or ear by a puck, and trust me when I say that that puck was flying!
Honestly though - These hockey players are tough. They were getting smashed into the barriers, tripped, whacked with pucks and other player's sticks.
I want to be as good as them one day, if not better.
On a side note though, since the games are on until Sunday, hockey training has been canceled. I hope this kind of makes up for it.
