Prologue:

I was sitting in my room. This is the day I turned 8. Not that my dad or stepmom cares. My stepmother believes I'm a freak. Every time we move or something weird or dangerous happens, it's apparently all my fault. And my dad goes right along with her. As I pull up my bed sheets and turn off the light, I hear the sound of needles poking up and down off the floor. I jolt up and grab my lamp.

"No, not again!" I thought,

" Please go away! Just leave me alone for once! You already torture me with nightmares".

Suddenly a hissing voice came into my mind,

" Dreams are not the punishment I wish for you. Torturing isn't enough pain. Your death I plan to be much much more slow and painful than to any of my victims ever before.".

Then my closet door creaked open. Spiders came crawling out from all sides. I screamed and pulled my covers over myself, and tried to embrace my impending doom.

Soon the spiders had covered my bed. I kicked my blanket to try and get them off. In no more than about 5 seconds their pincers had pierced through my blankets and started to bite me. Then another women's voice yelled,

" RUN!" .

So for what I'm about to do I could have been named ADHD kid of the year. I threw off my blanket and charged through the sea of  spiders. For some reason I couldn't scream or was too focused on getting to the door. Either one works. When I got to the door I threw it open and slammed it shut.

I quickly put towels under the door so they couldn't follow me. I heard my dad's voice in the kitchen,so that's where I went. Then I noticed that I was covered in cuts. It might help me win dad over and believe me about all my story's. But as I walked through the hallway I stopped. My step mom was there. I heard her say,

" I don't mind being the bad cop. It gives me someone to take out my anger on".

I staggered back, I couldn't stop the tears from coming. My own father was telling her to hurt me. MY OWN FATHER. My despair quickly turned to anger. I ran to my bathroom bandaged my cuts and wrote a note to my father. It said,

" I'm so glad I finally found out you hate me. You could have told me earlier. When I'm feeling merciful I'll write a letter to you. But for now I'll be gone.

P.S. You need pest control for my room.

I grabbed my slide phone and ran out of my house.

I didn't get very far. These strange things started to stalk me. But I got out of Texas at least. With a little help from some friends. But when I got to Oklahoma my luck ran out and I was caught. When I wouldn't tell the police my father's name They assumed I was an orfin and sent me to a foster home in Manhattan.

FOUR YEARS LATER

Beep! Beep! I slam my hand down on the alarm. I throw off my covers and look at my alarm clock. It says, "Wensday, June 1, 6:00 am. I moan and head towards the bathroom. I hear the shower pounding down. " Miranda!"  I yell," I need to get my contacts!" " Well to bad Paige! This is my home and where my parents live!" she yelled back.  I stomp back to my room and put on new clothes. After Miranda got out I brushed my curly blond hair, put in my contacts and went down stairs for breakfast.

When I got down stairs I saw Lauryn was already up and ready to go. Lauryn was two years older than me. She had dark chocolate brown hair, fair skin , a splash of freckles like mine, and electric blue eyes. We have been buddies for as long as I have been here.

She is basically an older sister to me.

We have had very similar trials.

We both have run away from our parents in Texas, we have creepy, dangerous things happen to us, we both have ADHD and dyslexia, and we both have to put up with Miranda. "Ready for finals?" she asked. "Ready as anyone will ever be." I replied. Lauryn pushed a plate of  eggs, sausage, and toast towards me.

" Eat up," she whispers, " I saved you some before Miranda got it."

"Thanks." I exclaimed. I wolfed up a lot of food.

After I finished, Lauryn grabs her backpack and says,

" Come on. We need to catch the subway without Miranda this time."

I look up at her real seriously and say, " That's you best idea yet!".

I grabbed my backpack and head out the door laughing about how Miranda's face would look like when she  that we left without her.
