Chapter Seven

My dream started out like this.

I was in a dark cavern. The top was so low that I had to crouch down. I reached out to my side, pulled back and saw my hand was covered with cobwebs. I screamed and tried to get it off but a large string pulled on me. It dragged me towards a big black  room. Soon I was being spun around and around.

I tried to scream for help but the web's had covers my mouth. I wriggled around like a pathetic worm trying to get out of it. Then spiders started crawling off the walls engulfing me. "Your death I plan to be much more slow and painful than to any of my victims ever before!" a voice hissed.

Then everything went black.

I shot up out of my bed and nearly karate chopped Chiron's head off with my knife. I looked down at my pajamas and saw I was covered in cobwebs.

" The rumors are true. Arachne is back!" Chiron marveled.

" S-she's back." I sobbed." She's b-back! I thought she had f-finally left me a-alone."

"My child," Chiron said softly, " you must hold strong. Come with me."

I looked up and wiped my eyes. " W-Why?" I asked.

" It is time for you to meet the Orical."

" W....What's the Orical." I stammered.

" She, um.... is difficult to describe. You will find out soon enough anyways."

Chiron started down the hall and up the stairs. I had no choice but to follow.

When we had reached the top floor Chiron pulled down the attic stairs.

" Go on. Try to stay sane." He said.

I smiled weakly and climbed up. It wasn't much but, every attic wasn't much. The only difference is that it was filled with horrifying things. Pickled monster limbs, broken swords, a hydra head, and a bunch of other junk. But worst of all, there was an unwrapped mummy wearing a tie dye dress with many bead necklaces around her neck.

But to my surprise the mummy sat up and opened her mouth. Green smoke started to flow out of her mouth.

I stumbled back,horrified. "Forget staying sane, " I thought,"I don't want to die!

Then she said; Approach seeker and ask.

I mustered up my courage and said," What is my purpose?"

The smoke then swirled up my legs engulfing me in them. When I could see again I was in the grove where I met Conquest but, it was all different shades of green.

A sayter then stood up and said in the same rampling voice," When the weaver returns from the pit so old, you will be chosen by the king of horns. You will travel south to the cold and dark ,and find the missing from bonds so bold. The four of you that do return, will morn the loss of  friends alike. The sea to be your doom or your savior, to protect a secret that ends in death."

Then spiders crawled through the scenery. I screamed and everything went black.

" Paige, come on! Wake up!" Lauryn cried. I sat up on the attic floor, dust covering me from where I fell.

"W.....why are you here?" I asked.

" Chiron sent me after he heard you scream."

"That makes sense."

     I stood up and black spots danced across my eyes. I stumbled back.

"I'm fine, I'm fine ." I said to Lauryn but she didn't look sure.

I climbed down the ladder and took one last look at the attic.

"I really hope I never have to go in there again." I thought.

I found Chiron, Mr.D and all the cabin leaders ( including Mason ,Andy, Lauryn, Austin, and Audrey) surrounding a ping pong table filled with cheese wiz and crackers. When they saw me every one when silent. I really hate attention like this especially in serious situations like this.

But Chiron had to go along and make it worse. " What did the Orical say." He asked.

I took a hesitant breath and said,      " When the weaver returns from the pit so old, you will be chosen by the king of horns. You will travel south to the cold and dark ,and find the missing from bonds so bold. The four of you that do return, will morn the loss of  friends alike. The sea to be your doom or your savior-"

I stopped. I couldn't tell them the last line. I was afraid of what it meant." That's it. That's all it said."

Chiron looked at me like he knew I was lying.

" Are you absolutely sure?" he asked.

" Look, the last line doesn't matter!"  I stuttered, " All we know is that at least two people will die on this quest."

I sat down and looked up. " The worst of all," I whispered ," is the fact that the Arachne has returned and we don't have a deadline."

Mason and the other Athena cabin leader paled.

" She...She can't be b-back!" the other boy said.

"I am afraid so." Chiron said," But the gods may already have a deadline set for the god or goddess to return. I say that we have him or her back before the summer solstice. They have a meeting every year."

" So about the quest," I said, " we need at least six people to come with me. I don't blame you if you don't want to   come."

Lauryn raised her hand,"I'll go. I'm not letting you go on an adventure without me."

" We'll go with you!" Andy and Austin said in unison.

Mason shot up his hand and raised Audreys."We are most defiantly going!" he exclaimed.

I wasn't sure why Mason a guy I barely knew, wanted to come with us. I shook the thought away.

"He just wanted to help his family/me out with facing children of Athena's most deadly fear." I thought," There is nothing to worry about."

  " Okay, you should all get packing. You leave at dawn. Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah! Hope you all die." exclaimed Mr.D happily.

We all dismissed and started packing.

                                                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I quickly grabbed my stuff out of the Hermes cabin and  trudged on to the Athena cabin.
I walked into the cabin. It wasn't much like the others. It had plain white curtains to match  the walls and floor. But the walls and ceiling were covered in blueprints, war strategy layouts, and architecture designs. "I am so going to love this place."  I thought, " That is if I survive."
I put my stuff on an empty bottom bunk and started to unpack a few things.
" You need help?" a voice said.
I spun around and saw my new sister's.
" Nah," I replied, " I don't have much to begin with anyway."
Then someone knocked on the door. I opened it and there stood Clark.
" I'm going with you!" he said, " and there is nothing you can do about it."
He put on a brave face. I smiled.
" Like I would put up a fight with the guy who saved my life nine days ago." I replied.
He smiled back and quickly trotted back to the strawberry fields.
