Madeline's POV- October 2017

"Got any plans for the long weekend?"

I glanced up from the paper I was filling out and nodded.

"Yeah, I'm actually going home" I answered.

Mason, the freshmen I was currently tutoring in writing smiled.

"Nice"

"Catch a baseball game" I added.

"Cool, well I hope you have fun"

I handed him the paper and watched as he signed it.

"Are you finally heading home?" I asked.

He was a local kid who lived about an hour from campus, but he had not gone home since his move in day in early September.

"Yeah, my mom is coming for me Friday morning"

I smiled.

"Well enjoy it, you definitely deserve it. I obviously won't see you next week, so Happy Thanksgiving" I replied.

"Thank you, have fun at home"

As he left, I placed the paper into my tutoring folder. Currently I had six students, three I met with today, and three tomorrow. It was 11AM, and I was done for the day. I had class Wednesday's and Thursdays. My clinical hours were usually every Tuesday from 12PM to 6PM, but since Cody was here I chose to do my hours for today last Friday. It was nice to have Cody here to distract me from the pressure of nursing school. He was honestly a reason why I had not snapped. This semester was just the beginning because my clinical hours would be double next semester. As tired as I was, I genuinely enjoyed working in this field.

"Morning" I greeted my barista, Danni.

"Good morning Madeline, your Monday usual?"

"Yes please, and a vanilla latte" I answered.

She smiled.

"You seem chirpier than usual"

I handed her my credit card and watched as she swiped it.

"My boyfriend is visiting" I told her.

"Oh nice, well have fun"

I laughed as she winked at me.

"Have a nice day Danni" I said as she handed me back my credit card.

My order was made quickly and I was on my way back to the condo. Making my way inside, I closed the door. I rushed to the living room and up the stairs to my room. The door to my room was closed, and there was no sign of Poppy. I quietly opened the door and stepped inside. The second I walked into my room, I smelled Cody who was fast asleep next to Poppy who had cuddled up against him. His scent was literally spread throughout the room...not that I minded. Slipping off my backpack, I set it on the floor before setting the two cups of coffee on my desk. Climbing up on my bed, I leaned over and kissed Cody's cheek.

"Good morning" I greeted when he stirred a bit.

He smiled and hummed as I leaned down to give him a kiss.

"Morning"

I smiled as he opened his eyes.

"I bring coffee," I told him as I light grazed his cheek.

"You're the best"

I gave him one quick kiss before climbing out of bed to retrieve our coffee.

"One vanilla latte," I said as I handed him his coffee.
