Chapter 2

I was having a weird dream wherein I was being chased, when it started to fade away. Bright light replaced it, and I groaned. I didn't want to wake up, at least, not yet.

"Annie, I'd love to watch you sleep some more, but Dad and Mom are expecting us at breakfast. And seeing as it's almost ten, you're pretty late," I heard Chancey say.

"Five more minutes," I muttered and covered my head with the duvet.

"More like five hours. Now, let's go. And you still need to tell me who the girl is," he said.

I reluctantly peeled off the duvet and adjusted my eyes to the light, groaning.

"There we are. Good morning," he said and smiled cheekily.

I gave him a sarcastic smile and crawled out of bed as lazily as I could, groaning and muttering curses.

"I see we're grumpy today," he said as I checked my phone.

"Oh, well, I wouldn't know why," I said after clearing my throat and saw a missed call.

"I know you're not a morning person, but you seem a little too grumpy today," he said, making me look back at him.

He was sitting on the edge of the bed, his blue eyes looking straight at me. That's when I realized that I had a weird feeling in my gut, one that usually meant something bad was going to happen soon. I ignored it and gave him an apologetic smile.

"Sorry. You didn't deserve that," I said.

Inside my head, I was debating whether or not I should give him a hug.

"You can go ahead, I'll be right out in a few," I said and dialled her number.

I instantly dismissed the thought when the voice on the other line squealed, making me feel like my eardrums were going to burst. I just thought it would feel weird hugging him randomly, for some reason.

"Oh, alright," he said, sounding like he was disappointed.

I heard the door close and listened to her giggles that seemed never ending.

I laughed then said, "Calm down, Bree. You'll be here soon enough."

{Bree, or Brynn, was one of Sky and Luke's close friends who were introduced to Anna on their first day, in reference to the first book. She was one of the girls who ended up more starstruck. She appears more in my revised version. ;) }

"Oh, I have the perfect dress. It's white with sky blue ribbons that make it look so ethereal. It's also really sparkly because it has the same shade of blue glitter on the top. I also have this cute--" she said, but I cut her off with, "Yeah, yeah, Bree. Don't overdo it now. No hats, no body filled with jewelry. No rings, we don't want to send the wrong message."

I laughed as she did, too, and replied with a 'yeah'.

"Can I come over there earlier, say three? I haven't seen you in a while, and I need to fix my act before we actually start acting," she said.

"Yeah, no problem. But rest assured, the king and queen will like you," I said.

"Oh, God," she said.
