I was the Princess in the tower I'd built around myself
You, the King's most trusted knight, poster boy, on a shelf.
When they told you I'd be hard to save you didn't realise
Just how rough and broken the journey was inside.

The road was all but fatal, you pursued and took the gamble
Right to the mighty walls you came, ready for the battle
That night you tore down my walls, each and every layer
As the stones smashed and broke, my dear, I began to care

I watched you from my tower, with pain turned you away
Put my defences up again, tried to hide my shame
You blew up all my canons, destroyed my iron gates
And through my kingdom on you ran, ignoring all, going straight

You reached my fabled tower, I lay in wait inside
Wishing you would come on through but wishing I could hide
The last and final battle you won without a doubt
You slew my dragon demons, at last you were about

When you made it through the door, it was a lovely sight
For each day you fought for me you became my only knight
Yours at last, that's what I was, for you found my soul, my heart
You fixed my heart together, and so I gave you my favourite part
