Hey Becca,

Whats up? How are you? Is it weird that I always ask you about your whereabouts when I know you will probably never respond? Maybe you don't even read these? Maybe my letters are just piling up in your unopened mailbox? But I guess I'd rather write to you than just straight up quit.

Over the past few weeks I've come across a person who has almost left me defenseless. Her name is Summer. She is one of the nicest and down to earth person I know. She understands me and she always knows what to say. Whenever I am around her I just let my guard down. I always want to tell her about everything. I want to trust her but I can't. I can't let myself be so weak for anyone. Not only will it hurt me but I am going to destroy her too and I can't afford that. She already has enough to deal with. I need to be there for her and protect her if needed. I can manage on my own. I've been doing it for a while now.

Besides Summer, there is Dad. You know what hurts me the most is that I had respect for him beyond his arrogant attitude. Deep down, I cared about him and I valued what he said even if I didn't agree with him. But now he goes off and cheats on mom. I could have never imagined that he would commit such a crime. He looked so happy, like he was having the time of his life. It's not fair. He gains his happiness by snatching my moms. Every time I think about it, I seem to get angrier. Mom doesn't deserve this. I don't deserve it. Maybe that's why you left because you didn't deserve to live like this.

Love,

Aiden

132 days before graduation

The end of October marked the end of an era—well that may be an exaggeration. The end of October meant the end of soccer at Saint Paul's Academy. It was bittersweet because I realized that this chapter of my life was almost over. As I sat in the cafeteria I looked around. At this time next year we would all be doing our own thing. We would never be packed in one room eating lunch. I probably wouldn't see a majority of my graduating class ever again. The whole thing felt so surreal.

"Hey hey," Summer's sweet voice dragged me out of my thoughts. Summer looped her arms around my neck and gave me a peck on the cheek. We had been dating for about six days now. The boys whistled at the table as she sat down—shooting them a glare. "So it's Halloween tonight."

"Yea, I heard Luke was throwing a party." Nate reveals as he takes a bite of his turkey sandwich.

"So is the plan go to his place?" Martin asked, looking up from his phone.

I looked at Summer, "Summer and I had some other plans for tonight."

"What are you guys going to get all freaky deaky in your costumes?" Jake teases.

"Jake." Anna hisses. Anna and Jake always had a thing but she refused to make it official and recently they had been on the outs. During this time Anna and Summer had become super close. Along with this other girl, Ophelia—who I had never met until Summer invited her to sit with us at lunch.

"What? It was just a joke, unless you guys are into that. I don't judge right Anna." Jake said shooting the fuming red head a wink. She gets up and storms off. "Anna baby, it was a joke." he calls out after her.

She turns around, "You know what Jake? You are a joke. I can't believe I thought that you could be a decent guy."

"Oh that is so you to bring up what happened last week. I already apologized." Jake scoffs. The whole cafeteria goes silent. They all watch in awe of what is happening.
