Chapter 3

"What just happened?!" Leo screamed, his eyebrows raised and creased in fright and bafflement.

"Where are we?!" Kat exclaimed, vigorously looking around for any clues, her breathing heavy.

"We appear to be in Phoenix, Arizona," Sera stated, pointing to the road sign next to them, "Did neither of you see that?"

"Wh-what? Arizona?! How is that even possible?" Katrina gasped, fear starting to settle in.

"It's not possible! Th-this is.... insaner than insane!"

"Just because we've magically teleported across the country doesn't mean that we have to stop using actual words, Leonardo," Seraphina reminded, glaring at Leo.

"Okay, okay! Look, I don't think we're going to find out anytime soon why or how we're here, so for now, let's just take in our surroundings and try to find a town or something," Leo sighed, looking around them.

They were next to a road in the middle of what seemed like a desert. There were few plants, mainly cacti. Tumbleweeds blew across the sandy plain. Off in the far distance, small buildings were visible.

Suddenly, a car passed by, almost knocking the trio over.

"What kind of car was that? It looked so old!" Leo remarked.

"It's a 2016 Chevy," Sera retorted, her face blank.

"2016? Woah! Who's still driving one of those?" Leo chuckled, sheer delight shining on his face.

"No one. The last models died out 5 years ago," Sera replied, a skeptical look on her face, her eyes darting around as if searching for the answer.

"Ha! You're basically saying we went back in time or something! Imagine how crazy that would be!" Kat laughed.

"You're right. That's exactly what I'm saying," Sera nodded.

"Wait, what? Seriously?!" Kat shouted, confused as could be and just as frightened as well.

"Welcome to the past," Sera confirmed, a smirk growing on her face.
