Jack kept walking with his usual smirk. He loved to tease blondie. It was one of his favorite pass times. He wasn't sure which nickname he liked more, Kitten or Blondie. It seemed like Kitten made her blush more, but blondie made her want to throw him more.
His smirked stayed on his face as he walked. Katelyn tried to get his attention and groaned in annoyance. "Jack. Jack. Jack!!! JACK!!" Her voice slowly raised as she called him and he didn't answer. She picked him up like she'd throw him, waving a hand in front of his face, and he finally snapped out of it smiling toothily. "Yes Kitten."
This caused her to have her usual blush as she put him down quietly. He smiled more genuinely at her cuteness. There was something about this girl that was just magnetic to him. Maybe he was crazy but...he couldn't help but start to love her. Katelyn giggled shyly. "I just wanted to get your attention you doof." That giggle. That giggle was unlike anything he'd ever heard from her.
He smiled more. She sounded...happy. Katelyn kept walking and squeezed his hand, causing Jack to question why she was being so nice. He thought back to when he first discovered his power. He really needed to test it out at some point. He looked at Katelyn "Can you stay here for a bit? I need to go do something." She raised an eyebrow in confusion but then slowly nodded. She said a soft "Okay but...what are you doing?"
He looked at her not sure what to say. He couldn't just say 'I'm going to go see if I can kill things with my power', that would just be weird. He tried to think "Oh um it's a surprise." She looked at him even more confused. "Um...a surprise?" She was a bit suspicious. What if that surprise was him betraying her?
She tried to stay positive and nodded. "Well alright just be careful and don't get lost..." she sat down quietly as he ran off into the forest. She watched him slowly disappear a bit curious. She played with her powers still sending the trackers to random places as she played.
Jack ran far enough so he was a safe distance away from Katelyn. He never wanted to harm her so he was a bit nervous. He bit his lip as he closed his eyes. He concentrated hard on death and killing the flower in front of it. The flower shriveled and he was shocked. He gasped and had a pit in his stomach, as he heard an all too familiar voice cry out in pain.
Katelyn was crying. It felt like something had stabbed her leg and she was bleeding badly. No one was there, nothing had touched her. She started to attempt to fix herself. Jack shivered in worry as he ran in the direction she was last. He felt sweat roll off his face and maybe even a few tears. 'Was she okay? Had they gotten to her? Did I hurt her? What happened? I shouldn't have left. This is all my fault.'
His mind raced with paranoia as he sped up feeling himself getting lost. "No no no!!" He called out in frustration looking around frantically. He started to panic. He couldn't just lose her like this. He wouldn't just lose her like this. He heard in the distance Katelyn cry out in pain "Jack!!! Help me!! Please!!" He ran in her direction and yelled "I'm coming!!! I promise!! I'm coming!!" He tripped through the forest earning himself cuts and bruises, but he didn't care.
He had to get there. He had to protect her. He had to see that smile again. Katelyn was bleeding a lot really quickly. She was starting to get dizzy as she cried more. This pain was horrid. She felt like she'd vomit it was so horrible. "Jack!! Please!!" She called weakly and pleadingly as she clutched her leg. She growled at her own weakness.
Her eyes flashed a brighter blue as she slowly stood. "Ugh..." She grunted. This was the worst pain she had ever felt but she was tired of being a damsel in distress. She was stronger then this. Jack ran towards what he heard of her voice, as Katelyn stumbled over to the plants on the side of the area where she was. She racked her brain still extremely dizzy, trying to remember how he made the bandages in the first place. She fell down and cried more sighing. Her legs were going numb, the pain unbearable.
She slowly started picking the same plants Jack had making a similar tourniquet to his. She slowly started to tie it, but didn't have the strength to tighten it enough. She tried hard to stay awake but the dizziness and blood loss finally got to her. Her cries fell silent as she fell on the forest floor. Jack kept running trying to find her. When he heard it get really quiet he started to sob a bit in distress. He kept running quickly and finally found a rag doll Katelyn laying on the forest floor.
He openly wept falling on his knees. He crawled over to Katelyn picked her up hugging her small body to his chest as he cried. He looked down at her sadly and then a glimmer of hope set in his eyes. She was breathing. He hugged her closer still weeping and focusing hard. "You're not leaving me now blondie. I swear to it." He closed his eyes as he wept concentrating hard on saving her. That was all he worried about right now. His green aura practically exploded over the entire forest as he cradled his kitten. Katelyn slowly started to heal the wound starting to close. What had caused this?
Jack stayed focused none the less still crying. He heard a soft voice said "Don't think you can get rid of me yet Jack. I still have a lot more throwing to do" she smiled and giggled a bit weakly. He cried, chuckled, and smiled all at the same time, opening his eyes and hugging her tightly. "I was so worried..." Jack said softly to her still cradling her in his arms. She giggled a bit "No need for the water works! I'm fine. I just don't know how I got hurt quite yet." She seemed a bit confused.
She tried to think back to when she got hurt and started bleeding. Jack looked down at her with a soft smile, glad she was even alive. "Whatever it was I won't let it happen again okay?" He kissed her forehead and she blushed more, and giggled a bit. She punched his arm softly. There was a small moment of silence, before he looked down at her concerned. "So...um Kitten...what did happen? How did you get hurt? Do you remember anything?"
Katelyn looked back up with another one of her soft smiles. He was so happy to see that smile. He blushed a little bit shyly and she poked his cheek. "Yeah. I remember the entire thing. I was messing with some twigs, and then I looked down at my leg, and with out anything even touching it, it just ripped open. I was really shocked. That was probably some of the worst pain I've ever felt. I called out to you and when you answered, I knew you'd come and save me."
She smiled more and then he chuckled. "Hey don't make me sound like some kind of Prince Charming. I wasn't the only one doing the saving" he pointed towards the half made bandage. "I bet you could've saved yourself. You're really strong Katelyn." He blushed as he spoke with a smile. He meant every word of it.
"So...nothing happened? It just ripped? I don't think that's how nature works?" He said rubbing the back of his neck confused still having an arm tightly around Katelyn. "You know we're not how nature works right? We're anomalies so anything could happen I guess." Katelyn said quietly and Jacks eyebrows furrowed in confusion and concern. It was at the same time he killed that flower. What if that was what caused it?
He decided he would restrain from using the power, unless he really had to or knew the side affects. She was so close to dying. He couldn't risk that again. He'd rather risk his life then hers. "I guess you're right..." Jack said softly and stroked her hair a bit. Katelyn giggled softly "I'm always right." She said like it was law. Jack chuckled softly "Yes dear." He said subjecting to the iron fist that was this cute blonde girl. "Speaking of which, where's that surprise you were talking about?" She questioned.
He went pale. He hadn't thought that far ahead yet. 'Shoot...shoot...surprise...um' he thought quietly. She giggled at his pale face poking it. His face lit up as he got an idea running to the side and growing flowers, weaving them into a small crown. "Thank you." Katelyn said softly and then added "thank you for saving my life" she blushed a lot as she kissed him on the cheek and giggled as Jack got a nose bleed and passed out.
"Aww...I'm not sure if that's cute, disgusting, or weird, but maybe I won't throw him as much as usual..." she giggled softly and tried to find something to make the cute boy comfortable. He was bit heavy, so she let the boys head fall on her lap. She blushed petting his hair and cleaning him up as he slept. "Good night.." she said softly.
