Alex's POVThe next day we walked around on the streets of Casemates Square. There were many shops, aimlessly buying useless stuff as we enjoyed the breeze of the Autumn weather. We walked past a Starbucks with the sign "Help Wanted" written on it. I stopped in front of it as Louis turned around to face me, putting his hand in mine.
"What's the matter Alex?" Louis asked as I turned towards him, shaking my head before tilting it towards the sign.
"I want a job," I said bluntly as he looked at the sign, then me. People were starting to notice it was Louis, from the all famous band, so we walked into the Starbucks.
"Are you sure you want a job at Starbucks? I'm pretty sure I could hook you up somewhere else if you want. Anything if you name it," Louis said putting his free hand in his pocket, gripping my hand tighter in a reassuring way. I looked down at them blushing before shaking my head.
"I want this job," Louis shrugged and placed a kiss on my forehead before walking with me to the person at the counter. It was a girl, tall and blonde. Something about her was familiar, although I couldn't quite put a name to it.
"Hi how can I help y- Alex?" The girl looked up from the cashier, her jaw dropped as she looked me up and down. She reached over the counter and hugged me as I froze in my spot, looking at Louis.
"Uh, do I know you?"
She pulled away and looked at me with confused eyes. "I'm Kristy, your best friend? I went to a party and called you drunk to come pick me up, but after that I never saw you again. I called the cops but turns out you were travelling the world."
Louis decided to butt in, stepping in front of me almost as he held out a hand for Kristy to shake, "Hi, I'm Louis."
She rolled her eyes before smiling at him, "I know who you are, Alex's room is full of pictures of you." I looked at her with confusion. It is?
Louis smiled wide at her, his perfect white teeth charming her, "Alex has been in an accident, and doesn't remember anything at all. She doesn't remember any of us."
Kristy immediately dropped her smile, looking at me with full concern, "Your brother would be so worried Alex, you need to see him as soon as possible. Here I'll give you my phone number and his."
Louis bit his lip and cursed himself in the head. The brother, he never thought about the brother, "Actually can we first address why we came in here first? Alex wanted a job here and I supposed you can get her the interview?"
Kristy walked over to the place with all the hanging aprons and handed one to me, "As long as you spell everyone's name wrong, you can have the job." We all laughed at her little joke as Louis turned to face me.
"I'll be back, just call me when your shift is done." I nodded as he walked off. Turning to Kristy she immediately took off her apron and snatching the one from my hand. I looked at her with surprise.
She spoke to the boy next to her, "Babe I have to go, cover for me." The boy smiled and nodded, pressing a kiss on her forehead before continuing his shift. She grabbed my arm and dragged me to the door of the cafe, peeking her head out to look for someone.
"Where are we going?" I asked as she turned to me and put a finger on her lips. She pointed towards Louis who had his back to us a couple of stores away. I had no clue why we were sneaking around my boyfriend.
Soon we reached her car as she got in and waited for me to get in. I refused, turning to her with crossed arms, "You're going to tell me right now why I'm hiding from my boyfriend or else I'll go to him right now."
She sighed and faced me with pleading eyes, "I promise if you get in I'll explain everything. I pinky promise." With those three words a memory flashed into my head.
Flashback
I carefully walked to my 3rd grade class in my brand new school, in London. I had just moved from California, so I was really different. My brother kissed me on the cheek before walking to his 8th grade class, fist bumping another kid. He already made friends and it hasn't even been a full day yet.
Slowly I walked towards the playground and turned my arm to a bench with no one on it. Just before I reached it, I felt a hand on my arm as I turned my head quickly towards a boy, maybe a grade older than me.
"Ha, loser, you're American," a boy laughed as he pushed me into a wall. I felt tears prick my eyes as I closed my eyes at his words. I cannot cry, I refuse. I blinked the tears back and tried to push him off. He stood there unmoved.
"Hey! Back off!" A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes came up and pushed the boy away as he looked at the girl with a laugh. She was smaller than him, but the way she stood made her look taller.
"What are you going to do little girl? Throw a doll at me?" He laughed as she opened her backpack and took out a barbie doll, throwing it hard at his head. He stopped laughed and held the bump on the side of his head.
She then threw her pink water bottle at his pants, "Look guys! Trevor peed his pants."
The kid looked around scared and ran away crying as she turned to face me with a smile, "Don't worry. We'll be best friends forever."
I sniffled and got up from the ground, "Pinky Promise?"
The girl smiled and wrapped her pinky around my mine, "Pinky Promise."
I shook my head and snapped out of the flashback, looking at Kristy who was waiting for an answer expectantly. She looked so similar to the girl in the flashback, it must be her. Finally, I nodded and opened the car door, getting in as she smiled and started the car.

"Yes, I found your sister...No I'm not joking, Louis brought her to where I work..okay bye Dylan," she ended the call with my brother, putting her phone next to her as she faced
"So, was that boy in Starbucks your boyfriend?" I asked her timidly as she turned to me with wide eyes as she shook her head quickly.
"Oh goodness no, Kate is gay. He's got a fiance, this lovely boy." She said as I turned red at my mistake. She looked at me once again before tensing and gripping the steering wheel tighter, "I have something to tell you. But don't get mad."
I looked at her with confusion and fear laced in my gaze as she continued her nervous, "Your brother and I are...dating."
I looked at her with shock and anger, "You went after my brother while I was gone!"
"Wait hear me out. Remember when I said I called you at the party drunk? When I didn't see you, I got myself into some trouble with a guy. He was...touching me. I was too drunk to defend myself. And Dylan was walking by, who he came to my rescue. We just hit it off from there." I looked at her with squinted eyes.
"Okay, but if you hurt him I will end you," I said as she laughed and nodded, easing the tension. It then occurred to me she never explained to me where we were going, and why.
"Why did we avoid Louis, and where are we?" I asked her as she pulled up to a small home. She unbuckled her seatbelt as I did the same. She turned to me and put a hand over mine reassuringly.
"This is where you brother is."
