"In my defense-" Katie began, being cut off by Keith pushing his chair back, standing up in the process. "Kogane, class has started. Remain seated, unless it's an emergency." The teacher keenly eyed the boy, her voice stern, causing Keith to groan in return, sitting back down in the process. He turned his view towards Katie, his arms folded, giving her the look.
"And you are?" The teacher quesioned, followed by Lance introducing himself. "I just transferred."
The teacher nodded in response, causing Lance to scan the room for an empty seat, cringing once realizing the only empty seat was in front of Keith.
He sat down, scoffing in return. Keith didn't for a second change his stance, still eyeing the female, causing her to grow even more uncomfortable. "Keith... stop, you know I hate that look on you!"
"Gee thanks! You hate my face. How lovely." The boy teased, but returned to his original angry face, shortly after.
Keith wanted to laugh, but he couldn't because he had to show Katie he was pissed off. Although something kept urging him to laugh.
"Keith?" Katie questioned, causing him to snap out of his mindset. "I didn't ask him to transfer, if that's what you thought." Katie persisted.
"Then why did he do it?" This time, Keith shifted his view towards Lance, gazing at the nape of his neck, considering he was seated in front of him.
"I came here for Katie, not for you! For the record, I didn't even know you attended this school." Lance turned his head towards Keith, the angriest look on his face. "Bullshit." Keith whispered, just enough for the teacher not to hear. "You have to have known I study here!" The boy grumbled.
"The world doesn't revolve around you." Lance rolled his eyes. "It revolves around me."
"HAH!" Keith laughed sarcastically, flinching after recieving a lecture from the teacher yet again. "Besides, what did you mean when you said you came here for Katie? Are you guys a thing now?"
"What's in it for you?" Lance smirked. "Pfft, nothing at all. It's not like I care. Just worried for my best friend, that's all." Keith blurted.
"What if we were?" Lance questioned.
"Were what?"
"You know. What if me and Katie were a thing?" Lance persisted, not for a second leaving eye contact with the korean.
It took him a second to understand, realizing he had become stiff, his hands sweaty and numb, beginning to twitch. Keith akwardly rubbed his shoulder, trying to remove all the tension that came over his body. "I, uh..."
"Keith! That's enough!" The teacher yelled, cutting their conversation slickly into little imaginary pieces. "Since you two can't stop talking to eachother in my classroom, why don't you two continue your conversation in front of the class?"
Both Lance and Keith gulped in response, scanning the entire class, realizing all the eyes of each and every individual staring at them. "What's the matter? Cat's got your tongue?"
They remained silent, flooding the classroom with unsatisfying tension. "That's funny, you guys didn't have any problem speaking earlier. Might as well continue your conversation in the principal's office!"
-
"You just had to be a dick!" Keith broke the silence that remained between the two, as they walked towards the principals office.
The coldest three minutes of walking Keith has ever experienced.
"Oh sure! It's my fault! You're pathetic!" Lance scolded Keith, walking in front of the boy, trying to stay as far away as he could from him.
"I'm pretty sure you're the one that started it!" Keith hissed, increasing his speed, until finaly reaching Lance's pace.
"Would it kill you to apologize?" Lance scoffed, stopping in his tracks, turning around to face the oriental.
"Apologize? For what?" Keith folded his arms, not in the slightest bit amused.
"Apologize for being a terrible person! I didn't do anything wrong. You just hold this imaginary grudge on me that honestly, is just sad. You put these stupid things in your head, that aren't true. I'm not that terrible of a person. Even someone as hopeless as you could realize that!" Lance growled.
"Oh so being a dick at the party to me and to my bestfriend doesn't make you terrible? Also, illuding her to the point of potentially dating her. You're the pathetic one, Lance! You don't deserve Katie! You hurt her once, and mind you, I was the one who helped her through it. You're just here to hurt her again. And that's what urges me to hate you even more than I already do! Even someone as terrible as you could realize that!" Keith shut the boy down, earning a confused look from the latino.
"Look, I don't know where you got your information from, but I didn't break up with her. She broke up with me! I have every right to have been mad at her, when we were at the party. But I was able to see past that! Cause i'm a good guy! Honestly, Keith, don't but-in to discussions you have no clue about!" Lance reinformed the korean.
"Katie said you sided with your parents!" Keith continued.
"Well, yeah. Of course I did, Keith! I was still a minor. I was scared! But I told Katie that I didn't want to end it between us. It could've been our secret. But she refused, she said, and I quote, 'this is too much!'. She left me, Keith. I was enraged, just like any other normal human being would be." Lance stated, trying his hardest to maintain his composure.
"Look... I didn't-" Keith started, before being cut off by Lance. "Let's just go to the principal's office already..."
Earning a silent nod from the oriental, they made their way towards the cubical.
