Bellamy's POV

This morning, my alarm wasn't the thing to wake me up. It was my sister, Octavia. She jumped onto my bed and kept bouncing up and down.

"Bell, wake up!" She cheered happily as she kept jumping on my bed, "It's the first day of school and Momma said you're driving me so we can't be late!"

I groan and roll over, making Octavia topple down beside me.

"Come on, Bell. Don't make me grab Momma to come wake you up!"

She's still sitting there, smiling down at me. As I rub my eyes and start to sit up, she jumps off the bed, out of my room and down the stairs. I can hear her feet running downstairs and into the kitchen.

Today was the first day of school. It was junior year for me and 5th grade for Octavia. All I could think about was what my schedule would be like and the fact this was my second to last first day of school. I had a delayed start today, so I had to be in at 9:30 and that was because they wanted to give freshmen the first two hours to start to warm up to the school.

However, Octavia had to be in at 8:00 and apparently I was driving her in today. Plus my mom wanted to get the annual "first day of school" pictures with the two of us.

Again, I was very glad I was one year away from having to do this at the start of every single school year. Unless my mom was following me to college, she wasn't getting my picture then.

I hear a running Octavia downstairs  and can tell she's coming back up the stairs so I take that as my cue to actually force myself out of bed to avoid getting jumped on again.

She ran by my room and yelled, "Breakfast is ready!" Just as fast as she came up the stairs, she ran back down them.

My mom was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the newspaper, and slowly picking at the food on her plate

"Morning, Bellamy," she says but not looking up from her paper, "Food is over there on the counter."

"Thanks," I mumble and grab my food. Two pancakes, some sausage, bacon, and some scrambled eggs too. The first day of school is also the only day she'll make breakfast for us too. Usually she's already at work, so that's leaves Octavia in my hands.

I sit down at the table across from Mom and she looks up to me finally with a smile. Octavia jumps into the chair next to me and starts laughing after she spilled some of her chocolate milk on the table.

"Are you guys ready for school?" She asks, glancing between us both.

"Yeah I guess," I respond, really only focusing on my food.

"I can't wait!" and Octavia gets carried away into a story. My mom stays engaged with the story and that keeps O entertained almost throughout the rest of breakfast.

I bring all three plates and glasses over to the sink and I rinse them off before putting them into the dishwasher. Meanwhile, Octavia is still carrying on with her story.

I put my hand on Octavia's shoulder and interrupt her, "Hey O, we gotta leave now so you can get to school on time."

She jumps up, runs over to her backpack, and slings it onto her back. She skips towards the front door while humming.

"Hold on!" My mom gets up and catches up to me, "Gotta get those pictures!"

We stand in front of the tree that's right outside our living room windows and Mom takes multiple pictures. "Oh, you guys look so grown up!"
