The New Girl - Chapter Nineteen

Lauren walked into the lunch room alone, still wondering where the hell Camila was. It was so unlike her to skip class. A part of her was worried, considering the way Camila acted this morning. The other part of her was a bit frustrated, because Camila wouldn't tell her what the hell was going on.

Lauren saw Ariana, Ally, and Melanie sitting at their usual table. Still, no Camila. Lauren only sighed as she walked over to her friends, and took a seat.

"Hey Laur!" Ally said happily, and Lauren flashed her a small smile. "Hey Alls." Lauren said lightly. Lauren looked up, and saw Melanie was holding a magazine, it was called "dresses". She looked over at Ariana who was picking at her salad, lost in her own thoughts.

"You okay, Ari?" Lauren asked, causing Ariana to look up at her. Ariana flashed her a smile and nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about stuff." Ariana said simply, faking another smile. "What kinda stuff? Everything alright?" Lauren asked in a concerned tone, and Ariana only looked down for a moment. She debated whether or not to tell her friends about what was going on with her and Kylie.

A part of her wanted to, because well, maybe they could help. But the other part of her didn't wanna be a burden, considering everyone else was going through their own shit.

She had to forcefully snap herself out of her thoughts, as she looked up and saw all three of her best friends staring at her expectantly.

"It's just homework and stuff. You know, the usual shit." Ariana lied, flashing her friends a reassuring smile. Melanie raised an eyebrow at her best friend, as if she were silently saying "bullshit". But before she could say anything, Ally beat her to it. "Well, if you need anything, you know we're here." Ally said, using her "mom" voice.

Ariana only smiled again, "I know. Thanks guys." She said lightly.

Ariana looked around the cafeteria, but Kylie wasn't there. She even looked over at the cheerleaders usual table, but still, no sign of Kylie anywhere.

"Alright we got lunch, bitches." Dinah said, snapping everyone out of their thoughts. They all looked up to see her and Normani holding McDonald's bags.

"Where the hell is Mila?" Normani asked curiously as she looked around, "I got her a banana smoothie, cause she looked a little down today." She added, holding up the smoothie. "I'll take it, thanks."
Melanie said as she took the smoothie out of Normani's hands, causing Ariana to chuckle. "She wasn't in calculus today, I just assumed she was with you guys." Lauren admitted, starting to grow a bit worried.

"She texted me and said she was at the mall." Ally said simply, reaching for her fries. "The mall? That doesn't sound like her." Melanie said, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. "Yeah, whenever I go shopping, I always have to force her to come." Dinah said, as her and Normani sat down next to each other.

"I'm gonna FaceTime this bitch, and find out what the hell is going on." Normani said as she reached into her purse and pulled out her phone. Everyone immediately squished next to her as she clicked on Camila's contact name, and hit the FaceTime symbol. After about six rings, Camila finally answered.

"Hey mani!" Camila said, looking into the camera. "Hey. Where are you?" Normani asked curiously, as Lauren tried to look at Camila's surroundings. "The mall." Camila said bluntly, "The mall? What the hell are you doing over there?" Dinah asked curiously, "You hate the mall." Melanie added in a "matter of fact" kind of tone.

"Thought I'd try something new-" Camila tried to say but was soon cut off, "Camila, does this one look good?" Everyone heard a feminine voice say, as Camila looked up. "Yeah!- Hey guys, I gotta go." Camila said, causing everyone's eyes to go wide. "Wait! Chanch, are you with a girl?" Dinah asked in a shocked tone.
