Author's note

The story takes place after Heroes of Olympus, but before The Trials of Apollo.

English isn't my native language, so if you see some errors, feel free to tell me so I can change them :)

I don't own the characters. All rights go to Rick Riordan. Except the plot, that is mine.

It was the tenth day of January. A day in the middle of the winter. But at Camp HalfBlood, it was a sunny and warm day, as always.

There weren't as much campers at Camp Halfblood in the winter as in the summer, but everyone tried to make it fun to stay.

A blond and handsome boy was walking on the beach at night. The sand felt warm under his feet and he sat down, waiting.

After a few minutes another boy came in sight. He was short, and had wild black hair. His name was Nico di Angelo.

"Solace,"

Will Solace turned around and smiled at the other boy. He hadn't expected that Nico would actually come at the beach at night. Nico kept surprising him.

"Didn't think you would come." he told Nico.

"I don't make false promises."

Will stood up from his sitting position on the sand and walked over to Nico. He, again, smiled to the boy and gestured to his left.

"Ready to walk?" Will smirked. Nico rolled his eyes, but nodded and walked away.

The beach was beautiful at night, the moonlight lit up the sea and the sand stayed warm at their feet. Will sometimes went to the beach think, or to enjoy the peace that the place radiated.
The beach reminded Nico of Percy. He didn't have a crush on him anymore, but the place still got him to think about Percy. He wasn't at camp in the winter, and Nico seriously missed him. After the war, people started to accept Nico more and more. But Percy was still one of the only people who went to talk to him. Nico did enjoy being alone, but sometimes he just needed someone to be with, someone to talk to.

And at the moment, that person was Will Solace.

"Are you making progress with archery?"

"You bet. I'm getting really good at it. A little more training, and I could beat you in a fight." Will teased.

"Get me when you're ready to get your ass kicked, Solace."

"Maybe you'll be surprised."

"Maybe."

Suddenly, Will grabbed Nico and shoved him in the water. Nico kicked Will and they landed in the water, together. Will laughed and Nico gave him his best death glare.

"I hate you, Solace."

"You know you love me, Death Boy."

Nico blushed and hoped it wouldn't be visible in the dark of the night. Will held his hand out and they walked out of the water, soaked wet.

Will and Nico really had bonded in the three days at the infirmary. Will had cared for him and they talked a lot when Will had free time. Nico had developed a small crush on Will, but he was sure Will only liked him as a friend, and nothing more then that.

"We should get back to the cabins." Will told Nico after a few hours.

"I'll shadow travel us back."

Will shook his head, that wasn't going to happen. Nico shadow traveled him back once before, and Will really disliked the feeling he got when he was  in the shadows. It probably was because he was a son of Apollo, and felt better in the light. Not in the dark.

"No, you will get tired. And I don't want you to do Underworld-y stuff anymore, unless it's necessary. Doctor's orders."

Nico rolled his eyes once again. "I wonder when your doctor's orders are going to be in my advantage."

Will ignored Nico and grabbed his wrist. Nico stiffed at the touch, not because he hated being touched, but because his crush on Will grew bigger and bigger with the hours. He had to stop thinking about Will like that.

Together the duo walked back to cabin thirteen.

"Goodnight, di Angelo." Will smiled.

"Goodnight, Solace."

Nico waved and closed the door behind him. What a day. Now he was alone, he could finally think.

Nico still couldn't believe that Will got kicked out of high school, but it happened. And if that isn't weird enough, he decided to stay at camp, for me.
It was weird, Will could've just stayed with his mother, but no. He chose to stay at camp for Nico. Nico was grateful for that, but he still couldn't believe it.

There was a chance that Will liked him back.

The chance was nihil, but it was still there. He couldn't ruin it.

Maybe he just sees you as a good friend, and nothing more. He could be straight, remember?

Nico shook off the thought, he should get to sleep. He took a long shower and finally went to bed.
