Despite the crazy drop in temperature once the moon rose, the device going off in my back pocket spread an unfamiliar and profound warmth through the expanse of my chest.

I decided to ignore the goosebumps covering my whole body and aggressively protesting against the concept of withdrawing my hand from my pocket.

I checked my phone because I knew your response would be worth being a little colder for.

A smile spread across my face as I read the message, regardless of how dumb or irrelevant it might have been. It was still worth it every time.

My shoes kicked loose gravel along the footpath in front of me as I pushed my phone back into my pocket after I'd typed out a response. I could already see your reply; letting me know just how dumb you'd thought I was too.

The night breezed picked up slightly, a shiver running along my spine. Of course I'd opt to not listen, even though you'd told me plenty of times to wear warm clothes when it would be cooler than usual.

I look up towards to the star ridden sky, searching for that reminder my heart aches for. The simple truth that no matter how far apart we may be, we will always remain under the same sky.

The stars watch over me and I smile back. My phone vibrates a few more times in my pocket. More goosebumps bubble to my skin, only in the form of sheer excitement this time around.

I rub my hands together quickly trying to rid them of the ice that settled so effortlessly; just like the cold had grasped the street around me.
