//wow. First of all thanks for the feedback! I hope this is good enough...
Fate is such a sudden thing.
All of the men stood clustered together, their brand new suits making it look like a gay season of 'The Bachelor'. Alfred would've made a joke, had he not been so caught up in the moment.
Francis patted Alfred's shoulder and they smiled at their beautiful Omega. Arthur was so perfect.
The woman who had applied his makeup was obviously talented; the Omega smiled, eyes closed as Yao ran a hand through his hair. It was a lovely day: the grass greener than it had ever been, lovely white petals raining down slowly.
"I love you so much Artie." Alfred said, tears welling in his eyes. "You're so beautiful and perfect!"
"Your smile brightens the darkest day, mon amour." Francis said softly.
"Every day we spend together... Makes me love you more and more!" Yao bit his lip, trying not to get overwhelmed.Arthur still smiled. His eyes were still closed.
Fate is such a sudden thing.
One moment you could be about to make the biggest decision of your life, and the next catches you by surprise.
Arthur was disappointed. He was in the hall outside the room when...Alfred cried.
Francis cried.
Yao tried his best, but ended up crying anyways.
Arthur smiled up at them, his eyes closed and his thin frame clad in a snow white tuxedo. He was so beautiful.
The woman who did his makeup was obviously talented; she hid the signs of blunt force trauma well.
Arthur looked so beautiful and alive... But even the lovely day was a lie, it seemed.
The petals fell slowly, a few landing in the casket to accompany Arthur in his final slumber. Tears fell slowly, a few landing on the soil of the gravesite to bear witness to this injustice.
Although it was sunny, it seemed that the only light had been extinguished. The Alphas and Beta wept and placed a few items beside Arthur, hoping that their loved one would appreciate the thought.
Francis placed a dozen roses on Arthur's chest, along with a tag that said: 'Alas, parting is such sweet sorrow. I shall await thee til it be morrow.'
Yao, with trembling hands, placed Arthur's paper frog at his side. He stepped back and closed his eyes tightly.
Alfred cried the most, kissing Arthur's cheek and tucking their old prom tickets into Arthur's pocket. An old sprinkler pipe had busted and fallen through the ceiling, catching Arthur in the temple. He had felt no pain. He had only regretted one thing...
Kiku was the last to step up. He bowed his head and closed his eyes. "I feel as if this is somehow my fault."
"I apologize for everything I did to you. I would change everything if I could..." He looked at Arthur's face as if he could actually hear; as if he would actually respond. "I love Alfred so much, and I promise to take good care of him. I... I'm sorry..."
He walked over to Alfred and joined him in his sadness. Arthur had been his rival, but he didn't deserve something like this.Hearts are fragile things, and when under such strain they either change or break. Francis was broken. He felt he couldn't live without Arthur and tried jumping from a bridge...
Only to fall into a young beta girl's boat.
"Hey, you're not a fish!" The girl huffed. She had dark skin and curly hair, a fish clip holding back her bangs.
Francis smiled.Alfred slowly changed, and Kiku did as he promised. He never told Alfred what he had done to Arthur in high school and college, but he tried his best to refresh Alfred's memory. It didn't work out too well and soon after marrying they divorced. Alfred was a single dad; and he was happier than he'd been in so long.
Yao also broke, but in a very unrelated way. He shut himself in for months, and when he began to feel a pain in his chest he went to the hospital. The Doctor said it was stage four Leukemia and that he had two months to live. He lasted only one.
For the rest of their lives on the anniversary of his death, each man placed a rose on Arthur's grave. It began with three.
By the next year, only two roses arrived. Another twelve years passed with two roses.Alfred stood at Arthur's grave, his teenaged son beside him. "Arthur, I'm sorry only I could make it this year. Francis... He was skydiving with his mate from Seychelles but his parachute didn't deploy."
The wind blew softly through his hair and he smiled. "Ah, I bet you already know. You guys must be partyin' up there, waitin' for me to join ya! Well..."
Alfred smiled and patted his son's shoulder. "I'm afraid it'll be awhile. I love you and miss you so much, but I'm not a quitter! No way is this little guy gettin rid of me so easy!"
He ruffled his son's hair and chuckled at the complaints he received. They sat on a stone bench and Alfred smiled. He began to tell a story."Once upon a time, there was the most Beautiful Omega in the World." Alfred told this story often and his son loved it. "He was short and hot tempered, and his name was... Arthur Kirkland."
