The Future Diary: Fanfiction Side Stories

Story 3: Mine, only mine

I can't believe it. Today has to be the best day I've had yet! I was just chosen to be partners with ... him... for a school project of course... but still, the excitement keeps me smiling constantly! Even though, I wasn't exactly his first choice... his first partner was Moe Wakaba but apparently the school received a call from her parents that her and her family were leaving the country for a family emergency. I really do hope everything is okay with her but at the same time, I don't. The more time she's gone, the more time I have with him...

Thankfully my partner split with me when we were assigned. I've never really spoken to her anyway, she's more of a smart and distant kind of person. Yet, she still sits nearly at the front of the class, proving how smart she is or is trying to prove. No wonder why she wanted to work alone. It shouldn't matter now since I have him which just goes to show it all worked out perfectly in the end. During the class we worked amazingly well together... even though I could feel my light blush slowly burning through to my cheeks, I still managed to control it and keep myself together. He seemed shy too but we were both mature enough to work through it. Though, I did noticed how he gave me glances from time to time as if he couldn't help but stare. I definitely didn't mind but the tension was growing between us. As the class came to an end we started to have a normal conversation, as a break from our hard work for the day.

"At this rate we could be finished by tonight!" he mentioned with a small grin.

My heart pumped as I saw his sweet smile. "W-well you could come over after school and we could finish tonight..." I offered, I could feel my heart pumping loudly as I spoke, 'I actually managed to push myself into inviting him over... please say yes...' I thought to myself.

He hesitated for a moment, "After school? Uhm, would your parents be okay with that?"

"I don't think so but, they haven't been home much. They've been having a very busy week at work and they're usually home by midnight and leave for work early in the morning, before I even wake up. They at least leave me notes on the fridge to let me know. So I've been home alone for the past couple of days it seems like." I sighed, moving my head to stare at the floor, "So as long as you leave before midnight. I think we'll be fine." I looked back up at him, giving him a small shy smile.

He seemed to be more shy about the thought of us two being alone in a house together... I would be too but... it doesn't sound too bad to me, if I'm being honest.. "I see... well, depending on how today goes, I could come over," he replied with a small blush coming to his cheeks. It was obvious that he had the same idea as mine but seemed to do his best to keep it off his mind and ignore it, "But it would depend if anything happens in my other classes that will cause me to stay after."

I immediately bit my tongue harshly inside my mouth without making him notice. 'I reaaalllly wanted him to say yes. Technically he did but that second part... it's obviously an excuse he'll make so he won't go. But maybe he actually has something to do. But then again, maybe he doesn't and he is just going to lie. but maybe... NO! I need to control my thoughts..' I snapped out of it, quickly replying, "Oh okay, that's fine. Just tell me if anything comes up then." I gave him back a smile to reassure him that it's fine since he seemed to look guilty about it.

He just grinned nervously back before he spoke under his breath, "Hopefully nothing comes up then.." 

I slightly froze from his remark '...he actually does want to come over?..' I thought to myself, "I-" I started to speak but the bell had cut me off, making me snap out of my amazement as everyone started to leave for their next class. I could feel my blush had gotten darker than before.

We both stood up, picking up our bags, "I'll see you around then?" I quietly asked him.

"Of course." he gave me one last shy smile before walking out.
