Taismo- dark angel :: chapter 2

Tails looked over the horizon with a smirk on his face as the sun rose up from in the distance. The dark being in control of his every move now had to pursue his mission. He needed the Chaos Emeralds in order to obtain enough power to destroy the sun. With this body, he knew it wouldn't be too hard to get his hands on those gems.

"It's time I paid the guardian of Angel Island a visit."
Slowly raising his arms and concentrating energy from the shadows around him, he was able to rise off of the ground. The dark aura around him was all that was lifting him up; he was levitating, almost weightless. Floating high into the sky just beneath the clouds, he watched as the sunrise began to give the world around him its golden fashion of light. As beautiful as it was, he frowned at the sight.
"This is the final day the sun will rise."

Taking one final glance at the sun, he turned and floated away over the horizon to Angel Island's location.

Approaching Angel Island with caution, Tails descended to the ground of the floating island. Just up ahead of him was the altar, and upon the altar were the Chaos Emeralds along with the Master Emerald, and guarding these emeralds of power was the echidna, Knuckles.

"Tails, what are you doing here?" Knuckles was curious how Tails even got here; usually when he comes to the island he flies here in the Tornado, which Sonic usually comes with him. Tails didn't respond to Knuckles' question and he began to climb up the stairs of the altar, getting closer to Knuckles and the emeralds.
"Tails?" Knuckles was still unsure of what was going on, but he could sense an evil energy coming from his body. Changing his stance to a battle pose, Knuckles refused to allow Tails to go any further.
"Whoever you are, get off of my island, now!"
Tails stopped in his tracks near the middle of the staircase, and looked up at the echidna who was on the top of the stairs of the altar. Grinning and showing his teeth in his evil smile, Tails simply chuckled, "I guess it's hard to fool the great guardian of the emeralds, even in the body of his friend." He scratched his chin, "Strange, you're usually more gullible than this."
"Back off!" Knuckles growled.
Tails paused for a few moments, and then pursued climbing up the stairs.
"Don't come any closer!" Knuckles warned.
"Or you'll what...?" Tails asked in a cold voice, still climbing up the stairs with no hesitation.
"I'm warning you!"
"Do you really have the guts to harm your own friend?" Tails mocked.
"You're not Tails!"
Tails remained silent as he continued to get closer. At the point where he had 7 stairs left to reach the top, Knuckles growled and charged at him down the staircase. Throwing a punch at Tails, his fist went right through his body. Where his fist made contact, Tails' body dissolved into a black cloud of ashes, and seconds later, the ashes all regrouped back together and Tails reformed his shape. Still no hesitation or pause, Tails continued up the stairs unharmed. Knuckles turned back to look at Tails in shock; he had a perfect target, but his attack went right through him inflicting no damage. It was as if Tails was merely a ghost.

When Tails got to the top of the altar, he stood on top of the Master Emerald, which was surrounded by the Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles quickly ran back up to Tails to attempt to stop his act.
"What do you think you're doing with the emeralds? Stop right now!"

As Knuckles approached, Tails held out his hand and a shockwave rumbled out of his body, sending Knuckles flying back and off of the altar in a shriek, landing on his back in the grass. Stunned, Knuckles slowly sat back up to witness Tails' act of terror. The emeralds were reacting with him in a very different way than when Sonic would transform into Super Sonic... The Chaos Emeralds were spiraling around Tails, and they were slowly giving off a black aura of dark energetic radiation, which was being swallowed up by a dark aura surrounding Tails. Tails' fur slowly darkened as he absorbed the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds. Static and lightning engulfed the sky as his horrible transformation took notice.

With the emerald's negative power completely drained, he slowly levitated off of the Master Emerald looking into his shadowy gloved palms. Clenching his fists to the point his knuckles cracked, dark and powerful static surrounded his hands, lighting up the smirk upon his face.
"Sonic can still use the positive energy of the emeralds and take you down!" Knuckles boasted. Tails just looked back at him with a cold look.
"It will take more than Super Sonic to stop the destruction I can deliver." Tails chuckled in his throat, "You think I took the negative chaos energy from the emeralds?" he shook his head from side to side slowly, "All I needed was the dark portions of the emeralds. I'm not powered by chaos energy of any kind; I am powered by darkness, and only darkness."
"W-what do you mean...?" Knuckles hesitated.
"I am an angel of the dark. I am using Tails' body as a vessel to unleash my purpose. With power that is so dark, what do you possibly think there is to stop it?"
"Wait... What do you mean that you are an angel of the dark?" Knuckles demanded.
"I am dead..." Tails explained, "When you die, there are two roads. One road leads to eternal light, and the other leads to eternal darkness."
"You mean..." Knuckles slowly caught on, "You're... a devil angel?"
"In a way..."
"But... this isn't possible..." Knuckles continued to back away from Tails, "Just who are you anyway?"
"I'm not quite sure who I am any more... Trying to escape from a world so dark you seem to forget about many things about yourself... The only thing I can remember is I was the leader of a clan called the Metarex, and that the love of my life betrayed me and perished... It's hard to believe that I can't even remember her name, but I will never forget the feeling of having a broken heart..."
"You're Dark Oak..." Knuckles suddenly realized.
Tails slowly nodded looking back into his palms, "Yes, now I remember... Thanks for clearing that up for me. But it doesn't matter who I am. All that matters is I am here to put an end to the existence of life... That is my purpose..."
Knuckles slowly shook his head, "Even after you died, you still want to kill everybody..."
"What? You don't like it?" Dark Oak whom was in control of Tails' body chuckled, "Then come and stop me if you dare."

"Knuckles!" A voice called from behind him. A blue blur zipped passed him and stopped in its tracks. It was Sonic who had just arrived after noticing the dark energies on the island.
"Is that Tails?" he asked in disbelief, looking up at the monster that Tails had become.
"It's Dark Oak..." Knuckles tried to explained, "He is in control over Tails' body."
"It's too late to stop me." Dark Oak exclaimed, floating higher into the sky above and heading further into the distant horizon.
"Yo, not so fast!" Sonic ran up the altar and stood on the Master Emerald to absorb the positive energy of the Chaos Emeralds; he wasn't planning on letting Dark Oak leave without a fight. Dark Oak looked back at Sonic watching him transform into his Super form, only to laugh.
"I'm immortal, hedgehog."
After Sonic's final Super transformation, he floated off of the Master Emerald, frowning at his foe in the distance.
"We'll see who's immortal!"
"You..." Dark Oak snickered, pointing at Sonic, "You like to race..."
"Enough!" Sonic threatened, "I'm going to put an end to you once and for all!"
"Then, catch me first, if you think you're fast enough." Dark Oak scratched his chin, "And do you have the guts to fight your best friend?"
Sonic lowered his head clenching his fists and gritted his teeth. "You're not Tails." He then launched himself toward Dark Oak shouting in anger. Dark Oak remained floating there, and before Sonic made contact with him, he repelled off of a dark shield in surprise. Sonic snapped out of it and snarled back at Dark Oak. Dark Oak looked upon the sun again with a frown, and then he looked back at Sonic with a cold grin. He launched off in the distance toward the sun with incredible speed and power; Sonic attempted to fly after him...

From below on Angel Island, Knuckles watched Dark Oak and Sonic fly off into the distance. With no hope in his mind about what could happen to life's existence, he collapsed sitting on the staircase at the top of the altar.
"What's going to happen to us...?" he wondered. That's when he saw something familiar on the ground beside him. Something small; something that he knew belonged to Tails.
"This... is Cosmo's seed..." Knuckles picked it up carefully and looked at the seed in his hands, "He must've dropped it during his transformation..."

Knuckles let out a sigh and continued to stare at the seed, when all of a sudden the seed in his hands began to glow, and he heard a soft and familiar voice echoing from the seed.
"Tails..."
