Taismo- dark angel :: chapter 3

"Cosmo??" Knuckles immediately recognized the voice coming from the seed. The voice was very quiet and she sounded kind of sad.
"Knuckles... Tails needs to stop Dark Oak..." Cosmo's voice whispered.
"Tails?" Knuckles was confused, "But Tails is Dark Oak!"
"Tails is still in there..." Cosmo sighed, "Only he can stop Dark Oak..."
"Ya but... How do you kill someone who's already dead?" Knuckles continued, "Dark Oak claimed he was dead, didn't he?"
"Yes..." Cosmo exclaimed, "He has escaped from his dark prison and is now using Tails to finish what he started..."
"But if he's already dead, how do we destroy him?" Knuckles was still very confused.

There was a pause before Cosmo could speak again.
"In order to destroy something that is pure darkness, you need to counter the darkness with pure light... Chaos energy won't do any good..."
"Pure light?" Knuckles scratched his chin puzzling, "Where would we get that kind of power?"
"From the opposite place he came from..."
"I still don't understand..." Knuckles sighed.
"You see, Knuckles... I'm not alive either..." Cosmo whispered, "I am dead, and I came back from the path of light to put Dark Oak back where he came from..." her voice began to whisper cries, "I'm only here to stop Dark Oak... then I must leave again..."
Knuckles had no words to express how he felt about all this. After a moment of silence, Cosmo spoke again.
"Knuckles, you must take me to Tails..." she pleaded, "Give him the seed..."
"H-how do I do that?" Knuckles asked hesitantly, "He and Super Sonic are out there in a race toward the sun!"
"So Dark Oak's already started his act of destruction..." Cosmo sighed, "Well you need to find a way... If I don't get to Tails soon enough, we won't have a chance..."

Knuckles nodded and scratched his chin to think.
"Wait, I can contact Super Sonic through the Master Emerald." He immediately approached the Master Emerald, "I can call him back to get it."
"Well please hurry..." Cosmo pleaded.

Meanwhile at the edge of Mobius' atmosphere.

"So, Sonic. You really think you can stop me, huh?" Dark Oak chuckled.
"Tails, I know you're in there!" Super Sonic shouted at him, "You gotta fight it, bro!"
"Tails can't hear you." Dark Oak laughed, "You're wasting your breath."
"What did you do to him?!" Sonic demanded.
"Do you really want to know...?"
Sonic paused momentarily and nodded his head.
Dark Oak looked into his hands and explained with the evil in his throat, "In order to obtain this body, I had to claim it as my own... In order to do that, I had to kill him."
"W-wait, you what?!!" Sonic shrieked.
"Tails is dead. Even if you did stop me, Tails would be a motionless body never to wake again."
Sonic felt rage building up inside of him as his fists clenched together.
"You're lying!!" he denied.
"Afraid not." Dark Oak snickered, "He's in the dark land I came from now. In order to come back from the dead, I had to find someone to take my place."
"You... Monster!!" With his final shriek from his throat, Sonic lunged himself toward Dark Oak in a streak of fury. Dark Oak rebounded him with a shield, but Sonic came back almost immediately in full hatred. With every strike Sonic delivered to Dark Oak made a dent of ashes, which only regrouped back together.
"You can't kill me, Sonic." Dark Oak boasted.

Sonic floated staring angrily into the evil eyes of his opponent. It has become pretty clear that no matter what he would try, it wouldn't harm Dark Oak. He floated there, staring for what seemed like hours, when he suddenly heard a voice in the back of his mind.
"Sonic... Sonic, can you hear me...?"
Sonic's ears perked and he responded, "Yes... Knuckles? Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me. Listen, you can't defeat him like that. Come back to the emerald altar right now."
"But what about Dark Oak?" Sonic argued.
"Sonic, we don't have time for this. Return to the emerald altar."

With hesitation, Sonic nodded slowly and frowned at his foe.
"I'll be back..." Sonic promised.
"The moment you leave I'll be gone, Sonic." Dark Oak chuckled.
Sonic just gave him one last glare before he turned away and flew back to Angel Island.

Dark Oak smirked and looked back at the sun.
"Soon the galaxy will fall into pure darkness." He snickered, "The sun may be big, but to my power it is as vulnerable as tissue paper..."
With nothing further to say, Dark Oak exit the atmosphere and headed toward the sun.
"That hedgehog will come back... And when he does, I will eliminate him along with the sun..."

As Sonic returned to Angel Island, he located Knuckles at the emerald altar who as waiting for him.
"Alright, so why did I have to come back here?" Sonic asked impatiently, "Dark Oak is getting away; I gotta catch him before he gets to the sun!"
"Sonic, you can't fight him." Knuckles explained.
"Whada ya mean? Of course I can! Just let me know how to destroy him so I can catch up to him and take care of this freak! He killed my best friend; I'm not letting him get away with it!!"
"Sonic..." Knuckles sighed as he handed something to him, "This is Cosmo's seed. You need to get this to Tails. Cosmo will take care of the rest."
"Cosmo?" Sonic looked at the seed in his hand, "But... isn't she dead? What can she do to help...?"
"Sonic..." Cosmo's voice whispered from the seed, "Yes, I am dead... but you have to trust me. There's only one way to stop Dark Oak now, and in order for me to do that, you have to take me to Tails."
Sonic's eyes widened when he heard Cosmo's voice. Without questioning anything, he nodded to her request. He didn't know exactly what she meant, but he trusted that this was the only way that would work, and turned back to the sun and flew toward it to catch up to Dark Oak.

"Only me and Tails can stop him now..." Cosmo whispered.
