"Um what was that?" Rowan whispered to Derek as she desperately searched the pitch black woods surrounding them.
"How the hell am I supposed to know?" Derek huffed as he, looking quite annoyed, walked back down the hill to where Rowan had stopped.
"Oh I don't know, maybe because you're a werewolf" Rowan said in the same tone. Derek rolled his eyes and glanced around. There was another snapping sound it the distance and Derek gripped Rowan shoulder.
"We have to run, lets go!" Derek urged and grabbed Rowans hand and pulled her whole body forward into a sprint closely behind himself.
Rowan and Derek heard the steps gain behind them and Derek knew that there was at least 7 different people trailing them.
They soon reached a clearing on a cliff that looked over the whole of beacon hills and their only hope was to jump. Rowan peered off of the edge and heard the deafening sound of her heart beating in her ears, nearly causing her to black out.
"You have to leave me" Rowan snapped at Derek. "You can make the jump with only breaking a few bones at the worst, I can't. You need to go"
"There's not a chance in hell im going to leave you here" Derek snapped back and he grabbed her sleeve and pulled her closer to him in a protective manner.
"Well isn't that sweet" a familiar female voice said in a mocking tone.
Rowan rolled her eyes and turned to glance at Derek's expression. His pale green eyes were wide open in fear and desperation. Not many things scared Derek Hale but this certain blonde Argent was in fact one of them.
"Kate!" Rowan exclaimed in a flat tone. She couldn't see Kate so she was calling out aimlessly into the darkness, trying to provoke the She devil " So good to see you, how long has it been? 10 years? Well time has not shown its mercy on you has it?" Kate emerged from behind a tree and came into clear view of Rowan and Derek. "Though to be perfectly fair you weren't actually in our year at school. Or any year close to ours for that matter." Rowan confidently rambled on staring Kate dead in the eyes." How old are you any way? I mean it has to be pretty high up there" Rowan said and gestured with her hand.
" I forgot how much you like to talk, Witch" Kate said.
" And I forgot how nice it was not having to look at you, bitch." Rowan retorted back. " I mean the little things you take for granted, right?"
Kate chuckled and with a wave of her hand 6 more hunters emerged from the woods all aiming their collection of weapons in Rowan and Derek's direction.
One of the hunters shot an arrow into the ground In front of Derek and exploded with light causing Derek to shout in pain and fall to the ground. Rowan snapped her head around in concern and felt a hard object come in contact with her head and she also fell to the floor, blacking out.

When Rowan regained consciousness she glanced around the room and knew exactly where she was. The Hale house.
The memories of the Hale family seemed to sting Rowans eyes and tears threatened to fall down her pale, freckled cheeks.
She glanced around the room, recognising it instantly. Derek's bedroom. Derek's bedroom had been at the top of the house in the attic meaning his room was the least attacked by the fire. His room was still black and charred but some things remained, such as his basketball posters (though a bit crisp) that once decorated his plain grey walls. On the night stand Rowan saw something that she had never seen in his room before. It was a picture in a black metal fame.
Rowan pushed herself up off of the floor and begun to walk towards it. She ignored the skull crushing pain that was thumping around her brain like a battered tennis ball and dropped to her knees in front of it.
The picture was of her and Derek. She remembered the exact day it was taken. It was the last day of school before the summer and everyone was going to the cliff to hangout and drink. Rowan remembered clearly that she had gotten wasted and Derek refused to leave her side just to make sure she was okay and didn't do anything stupid. But that's not why she remembered the day so clearly. It was the day Derek and Rowan decided to be 'more that just friends'. Paige ( Rowans other best friend) had taken the picture of Rowan hugging Derek and Derek kissing her on the head and framed it for Derek for his birthday.
Dust had settle around the whole room, all except this one picture. There was big heavy footprints on the wooden floor that lead up the double bed that was located under the huge window seat that you needed to jump up onto if you wanted to sit up there. That's where Rowan and Derek spent most of their time.
Rowan glanced around the room once again and noticed the charred door. Why would Kate put her here by herself? Was she doing it the torment Rowan about her and Derek's past or was it something more sinister? Rowan ran across the room and twisted at the door handle. The door swung open with a creek and rowan marched her way forward but was knocked back by an immense force causing her to violently fall to the ground.
Rowan started to feel light headed and dizzy. She began to stand up when an agonising pain shot up her leg and through the rest her body. She looked down in horror and she saw her bone protruding though her shin.
"Shit!" Rowan cried out and tears began to escape her eyes. The blood was oozing out of the wound and rowan felt like she might faint.
Rowan hushed her cries when she hear obnoxiously loud foot steps make their way up the stairs. "Derek?" She hopefully called out.
" Oh, honey no. I'm so much more interesting" Kate snarled like a dog. She entered the room and slammed the door behind her.
