Today was like any other day, except tonight was a full moon, so you knew you had to practically walk on your toes around Derek tonight. Yes, Derek can control his shift, but he does get angry a lot. Like that one time you came home from being gone on a two day trip, and when you returned you were covered in bruises, and Derek wouldn't let you out of the house until you were completely healed. Derek never asked questions, and you were grateful for that.
You used your keys to unlock the warehouse door, and you slid it open. You only struggled with closing it for a minute this time. See you're getting better! You walked up the two steps to get to the large glass window, and you looked out at the city. You pressed your hand up against the glass, and you thought about all the times Derek has been there for you. Through break ups to you just being sick or upset over the tiniest thing.
You heard someone come down the spiral staircase from the bedroom area, and you turned your head slightly to see who it was. Of course it was Derek. "Hey, how are you?" you asked him. "Like I usually am every full moon." he responded nonchalantly. "Well I don't know how that is like, because I'm human." you muttered to yourself, but Derek being a werewolf could hear you perfectly.
"Being like me isn't as fun as you think it is." Derek told you, and he startled you, because when you turned he was almost directly behind you. "Well being human isn't fun wither. I'm weak, I'm insecure, and I can't do anything about it." you said, and you didn't even realize you were raising your voice. "Why do you think being a were wolf is so special? We go through times of anger, and if you can't control it, you'll kill someone!" Derek said loudly. You flinched back, and his face crumpled.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N), I'm so sorry, I know you don't like it when I yell. I'm sorry." he breathed out. You reached up, and you pulled him close to you, and you hugged him close. You could feel his heart beat in his chest, and as you hugged him, his heart rate slowed. You were shocked to say the least. He rested his chin on top of your head, and you just let him hug you, since it seemed to calm him down.
"Thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for not turning away from me." he whispered, and he sounded like he was a broken child. You hadn't heard him like that since the fire. "I'll never leave you." You whispered to him, hoping that it would comfort him."I know, I know you won't." he sighed. You hugged him tighter, and when you went to pull away, he pulled you even closer, as if you were to pull away, he would stop breathing.
"Derek, what's wrong?" You asked asked. "Don't be scared, please? Nothing's wrong. I just have to tell you something." he whispered ever so softly. "Well what it is?" you asked him completely curious as to what he is about to say. "You want to know why I calm down whenever you are close? You want to know why I can't bare the thought of you being hurt?" Derek asked you, and you just nodded your head.
"It's because I could never hurt you. I would die if I hurt you. You have been my light in my dark world since forever, and you have not once left me. You have never judged me, and that makes everything so much easier. (Y/N), you are my one and only anchor." Derek said softly. You looked up at him shocked, but a smile broke out on your face. You have never once thought of yourself as that important in anybody's life, and here is your best friend in the whole entire world, telling you that he couldn't live without you.
