[Maddie's POV]

I came to the first day of 4th grade with a black eye.

I came to the last day in crutches.

I came to the first day of 5th grade in a wheelchair.

I came to the last day in a gurney.

I didn't come to 6th grade.

Most thought I was dead. My name is Cal and I have had the worst life. Most think that I committed suicide in the summer before 6th grade.

I never left this world. How much I wanted to.

My father faked his and my death so no one would notice that he beat me. Abused me. We both changed our names. My new name is Jessie.

7th grade. Bullied. Beaten. My father was extra harsh because I couldn't defend myself against the bullies. I start cutting.

8th grade. Another name change. Sam. I'd better get used to it. Hopefully I would stay with this name for a while.

9th grade, first year of high school. Name change. Maddie. I meet someone named Ty and I immediately fall in love. We start dating. He saves me from the cutting.

10th grade. Ty attempts to break up with me. It breaks my heart, but I have to keep him. He is my savior, my angel. I can't let him go. I never will.

11th grade. My father tries to make me change schools and names again. I run away from home.

12th grade. End of High School. I drop out because am barely living off what I find and earn, I can't afford school. I go back to cutting. Ty could never love a lunatic like me.
