A life spent on the run, Astra understands they are hiding to save her future and possibly her life. But what 17-year-old wants to be stuck with their mom day and night jumping realms to keep them safe even if their mom has cool magical powers of a Blood Healer.
After being whisked away by Garreth, a reaper who claims to have her best interests at heart--even though he seems to act otherwise, she meets Lucian. With the latter being a handsome young heir to the lordship of her home realm creates its own problems. Like the vendetta Astra's mother has against his family.
As she waits for her Blood Reading on her 18th birthday, she feels pulled in so many directions, torn between kingdoms, and realms, the love of an heir, and the safety of the rogue reaper. She doesn't even get to choose her future since it will be told to her at her blood reading but that doesn't change what she wishes for in her heart.
Can the desires in her heart change the outcome of her reading so that her future will be the one she wants and not the one she fears she is destined for?

1. {Selcouth questions} Were you always an avid reader or writer?
{Patty and Amy answer} Yes, we've always been readers of everything. We love all genres. We both read every day as much as we have time for, on and off Wattpad. We started writing together about nine years ago. Just kicking around book ideas. In the last year both of us have gotten serious about writing and have dedicated ourselves to it.
2. {Selcouth questions} How did you get the idea, for your book-The Blood Reader?
{Patty answers} I had a dream years ago that led me to write the Blood Seer with the help of my friend. The Blood Reader is the prologue to that book because the back story was very thought out and emotionally relevant to how the Blood Seer plays out.
3. {Selcouth questions} Is the theme, of your book, related to you or your life?
{Patty answers} No, she is a figment of my imagination. Just like all of my characters. The theme is growth and strength in the face of adversity and hopefully everyone can relate to that. I will admit that the character Garreth is based loosely on the adorable Miles Teller.
4. {Selcouth questions} Who inspires you to write?
{Patty and Amy answer} Our mothers had a huge influence on us and encouraged us to pursue this dream. Dreams are a daily inspiration for one of us and life experience is a daily inspiration for the other.
5. {Selcouth questions} In the near future, do you have plans to take your writing, to a new level?
{Patty and Amy answer} Yes, we are hoping to have our first teen fiction novel Mirror Mirror published soon. Then we will build on that brand and hopefully eventually publish the Blood Code saga, including The Blood Reader, as a series.
6. {Selcouth questions} How does it feel, to be the winner of The Spice Awards?
{Patty and Amy answer} It is always an honor to be recognized and to win for a work that is so near and dear to our hearts. As writers, we are plagued with self-doubt and we appreciate the recognition as a verification that we are on the right path. Thank you so much judges of the Spice Awards.
