my lips curved upward at the corners,
it tugged at my eyes,
pulled at my skin.
this, was all very new.
memories of my last smile stood in a blur,
yet i still attempted to remember.
no success.

i never thought,
such a magnificent boy,
would help a girl like me.
it just never works out does it,
not how we expect it to.
and i walked towards my house,
my phone grasped between my hands,
the phone that contained my connection to the smile,
if you can even call it that.
if he had even meant that.
and for a second,
a small portion of my thoughts,
i forgot about the pain.
i forgot.
and i'd like to again.
i'd be willing to again.
and for once,
i felt okay.
