I stood next to Cory face to face with a boy as we were preparing for our first ever practise.
"I aint playing with no racists." A boy said I rolled my eyes
"Enough Zain" Mr Bell called out " Right the object of the game is to get the ball over the opponents try line. You get six chances if you don't manage to do it it goes to the other team, now you can only pass the ball backwards"
"Backwards?" Someone asks
"Yes backwards other wise its American football, wouldn't it?" Mr Bell replied
"Football is a gentleman's game played by thugs " Mr Simpson continued "Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen. Behave like gentlemen.. gentlemen"
"By that sir means no punching, no stamping, no pulling of hair, no gouging"
"No biting."
"No biting, but everything else is fair game. GO!" He said as he kicked the ball. Immediately I ran next to Riz trying to get the ball after about 10 minutes Mr Bell called for teams to mixed up.
When the came was over Cory lifted Jordon onto his shoulders.
"Three cheers for Jordon" He called so proud of his baby brother
I ran up to Mr Bell when the came was other he was standing with Miss Carter.
"Sir I can't play in any actual games." He and Miss Carter looked at me quizzically " Its part of my probation no physical contact sport events with other schools. I can if I get a sign off from Miss Carter and someone else saying I'm mentally ready."
"Alex. Next week. If you don't get in any more fights I will sign you off." Miss Carter said
"Thanks"
