*PROLOGUE*

CYBERLINK COVE (SKYHOOK ISLE)-2067

((Thanks to Adroitness for making a cover-it's on the right))

The shadowy figure, cloaked in ink, leaped lithely from rooftop to rooftop in the silky night. Daniel Thomas, an up-and-coming government agent. watched it intently. Observations ran through his brain as he analyzed the figure’s every movement. It was most probably a woman, judging from the diminutive stature and feminine-shaped face. Thomas peered through his night-vision goggles and magnified the scope of the lens. He caught a glimpse of black ringlets tucked into the hood of a jacket as the figure was illuminated for a split second by the headlights of a passing vehicle. Thomas frowned slightly. Could she be a pirate?

In Cyberlink Cove, an island formation located in the Caribbean, pirates ran amok. They weren’t the stereotypical plundering, raiding, sailing-the-seven-seas type; though the pirates were especially adept at smuggling. These pirates operated up and down an archipelago of islands scattered in the Central Pacific. Yes, they raided and plundered, yes, they were experts at marine warfare-but their ultimate goal was to do away with the government system that was employed on this little chain of islands.

Skyhook Isle was the primary, central island, with most of the government facilities stationed there. Reef’s Head was the industrial island, dealing mainly with imports and exports, while Coral Atoll was the shopping district full of luxury goods on sale for the wealthy to examine, boutiques, and gourmet restaurants. Finally, Haven Bay was the primary residential island for the upper and middle classes of Cyberlink Cove. Most of the poor besides domestic workers lived on government owned property on Skyhook Isle.

Altogether, the chain of islands was known as Cyberlink Cove. Agent Thomas was certain that the pirates were determined to bring the government of Cyberlink Cove to its knees. He wasn’t about to let them do that- it would take more than just a ragtag group of rebels to destroy the values that the archipelago was founded on.

Agent Thomas squinted as the figure jumped lightly out of sight and was swallowed up by the shadows. She had disappeared right around where the hospital was located. Agent Thomas turned on his headset. “We’ve got a possible pirate headed towards the hospital, Zander,” he muttered.

Zander McLeod was another government agent. Tonight, he was stationed in the town square. “How long till he or she gets there?” he asked Agent Thomas, on high alert.

“Five minutes, max,” was Thomas’s curt reply. “I believe it is a woman and she has been jumping from rooftop to rooftop for a while now.”

Agent McLeod nodded, pensive. “Alright. You going after the target?”

“Affirmative. I’ll call you in if I need backup,” Agent Thomas replied, and disconnected.

Agent Thomas turned toward the hospital. He watched the slim figure, dressed all in black, disappear around the corner. He tailed her, making sure to stay a safe distance behind her. He watched as she paused at a nondescript window. She murmured something into a comm unit, but Agent Thomas was not able to pick up what she said.
